Sports betting books (that is, the kind with pages)
That other thread about what % of people are winners vs. losers at betting made me wonder if there are any informative books on the topic.

Has anyone ever read any interesting/informative books on sports betting? There have got to be some good ones. I'd be interested to read about it from all angles -- in other words, how the industry works, strategies that have worked, funny stories, whatever...

Seems to be a lot of them, here's a link to my Amazon search. Anyone read any of these?

That's great, smitch, thanks! But how about some more info, like did any of those give you great tips? Interesting insight into the industry? Any especially well-written? Whatever you can remember.

Yeah, #4 got great reviews on there and it looks interesting... kind of like the "Bringing Down the House" of sports betting!

Well they are all very similar, looking at sportsbetting as a market and how to get the best advantage in that market. It's been awhile since I read them, I think Buchdahl's book was more geared towards soccer. Wong's book was the one that mentioned the teasers that cross the 3 and 7 in the NFL (the idea he stole from Fishhead ) the rest of his book has similar angles, like a mathematical way to look at props (Poisson Dist etc). All 4 are worth reading IMO, only #4 could be found in the library (I hate paying for books)

Sharp Sports Betting by Stanford Wong is a decent introductory level book. I've heard good things about the Buchdahl book but haven't gotten around to ordering it.

Most sports betting books are complete garbage, though. The main reason for this compared to the poker world is that you're more likely to kill your edge by teaching people your winning techniques at sports betting compared to poker, although many poker writers probably regret giving away so much info, too.
