You can download games off the internet of course... Where else would you expect, Walmart? Check out MIRC (internet relay chat) as well.

The 360 mod is basically modding the dvd drive. It bypasses the prestartup validation checks. You can then copy a game disc (let's say one you rented from blockbuster) and replay at your like. If you download off the internet you don't have to bother at copying the game yourself. If you don't play online this is a cheap alternative?

Games are much larger now, so they are dual layered. You burn them like you would burn anything. You download the ripped file off websites, and burn them. The problem isn't downloading or burning, it's making the Xbox read the disc and not realize it's burned. That's where the mod comes into play; it circumvents the security. Basically makes everything, burned discs, look legit.

I've modded the original Xbox for about half a dozen people, it was kind of annoying but easy. It's like an iPhone hack, where you have to run software through the device, where a bunch of nerds made it easy for everyone. Not sure if the 360 is like that, but I'd imagine it is.

Frankly, modding a system isn't worth it right now. Wait until something is used widespread and won't be caught.

Yes, I was playing modern warfare 2 and all of. Sudden disconnected and it said I violated terms of use.

where you playing a retail copy or burnt copy?

the copy that got released before the street date wasn't verified stealth, even if it was, if you played the game and then was connected to live at some point before it's street release, microsoft can see that you've played it by the game save/achievement folder on your xbox.

If you're not "friends with Microsoft" why would you buy their console in the first place?

For $70, you get a story mode and online mode, so there is some replay value.

Just because you don't agree with the price, that doesn't make it right to pirate the software. You can rent the game, or wait until it comes down in price, which all games do.

And besides, Microsoft didn't create the game. It's made by a third party, a team of salaried developers and their job stability is dependent upon the sales of their game.

If you don't feel that the game is worth $70, you could easily rent games through Gamefly, Blockbuster, etc.
