Sad, great season but can't recover from Stanzi blow. Bad beat. Good too see them doing well.

It would take a monumental effort at this point, for sure.

They will be in all liklihood be a double digit underdog on New Years Day if Stanzi cannot answer the bell by then.

With one or two more losses, they will be playing in the Capital One Bowl or the Outback Bowl in a January Bowl.

anyone else think they just went on auto-fade mode? I watched that 2nd half and that vonderbergerer back up QB was terrible. Now he has to go into the shoe? pffffff, this could be a laugher.

They will not be playing on New years day if Ohio St beats them good.

JJ, if they defeat Minnesota in the final game of the season they will be headed to the CAPITAL ONE bowl at the VERY LEAST, which is indeed a January bowl game.

Believe it or not, they may even still be eligible for BCS BOWL with a loss at Ohio State if they defeat Minnesota in the final game, as they will finish 2nd in the BIG TEN.

This is a crock, but between CINCY, BOISE STATE, AND TCU...........ONLY ONE IS ELIGIBLE FOR A BCS BOWL.

                  Shoot, not sure, are they??

I think your right, they are.

If so, I guess it would be either BOISE STATE or TCU left out in the cold.

Your correct, the BIG EAST is a BCS BOWL CONFERENCE(AS THEY SHOULD BE), but they are not directly tied into a specific BCS BOWL.

                    But they are indeed eligible.

Here is the list of BCS conferences.........

                    Atlantic Coast Conference (Orange Bowl)
                    Big 12 Conference (Fiesta Bowl)
Big East Conference (not tied to any specific BCS bowl)
                    Big Ten Conference (Rose Bowl)
                    Pacific Ten Conference (Rose Bowl)
                    Southeastern Conference (Sugar Bowl)

If Stanzi plays in the bowl game and the Iowa defense is healthy, I might question the thougts of some that believe Iowa will get blown out in a New Years Day bowl..............for one, Ferentz coached teams have played well in January bowls and secondly, Iowa has not lost a game by over 7 points in over two years.

They have lost one game this year by 7 points and last year they lost 4 games by a TOTAL OF 12 POINTS.........this accounts for Iowa losing 5 games in their last 23 games by a grand total of 19 points.

This stat could become severely damaged this coming weekend, as OSU could and probably will defeat Iowa by 19+ points.

Iowa was losing in 7 of their 8 games this year.... until they finally lost to NORTHWESTERN! Ohio State would have beat Iowa by 20 WITH Stanzi.... now without this game should get REALLY ugly since Iowa cant score without him.

I highly doubt Iowa would lose by 20 with Stanzi. you on crack..That's like me saying Pryor is overrated and a bum. (which some might agree)

I wouldn't say bum but he is highly overrated.

They will not beat Minnesota w/ the new quarterback. Minn is a tough team.

You could be correct, they will only be a small favorite without Stanzi.

Keep betting this line up, please. You guys know nothing about this new qb. He had one bad second half and bad play calling that didn't help. The kid has potential and is no dummy. They'll get him comfortable this week and have hit hit some short conservative passes to get rolling and they'll cover the spread, I hope. Iowa's lack of running game concerns me a lot more than this back up qb.

I would go see them play in the Citrus Bowl if that is where they end up, just a couple of miles down the road from me....
