Too many new gadgets for sale on the market and I am completely confused.
When I attend a ballgame I would like to have the most "practical device" I could buy so I could reach the internet and keep up with my Book's lines ?
    Not a laptop though !

Ipod touch. If the venue has wifi (most major ones do), you can use that for your internet connection

The iPod Touch (trademarked and marketed as iPod touch) is a portable media player, personal digital assistant, and Wi-Fi mobile platform designed and marketed by Apple Inc. The product was launched on September 5, 2007, at an event called The Beat Goes On.[4] The iPod Touch adds the multi-touch graphical user interface to the iPod line. It is the first iPod with wireless access to the iTunes Store, and also has access to Apple's App Store, enabling content to be purchased and downloaded directly on the device. Apple has sold 20 million iPod Touch units as of September 2009.[5]

No, it won't connect to 3G or Edge networks. You need a phone for that, in which case, go with the iPhone.

The question is what do you want to do? Check boxscores or listen to radio streams? If you're looking to browse basic HTML sites, you could get away with the original iPhone 2G (no 3G network). If you want real browsing, you can get the iPhone 3G, which is cheaper because of the release of the 3Gs, which you don't need.

You will be required to get a data plan with your cellular provider.
