Yanks & Phils Make $1.6 Million For Game 6

For those who don't believe in conspiracy theories by MLB...they also pocket a nice chunk of change.

The New York Yankees didn't want to have to go back to New York for a Game 6, but by virtue of them losing to the Phillies last night, they'll be guaranteed about $1.8 million.

One baseball source told CNBC that Games 5, 6 and 7 of the World Series are each worth about $1.8 million per team, after revenue sharing. The source said that Games 1-4 are worth significantly less because Major League Baseball takes a chunk.

While $1.8 million per game seems nice, both the Yankees and the Phillies would, of course, see greater incremental revenue by winning it all.

Yanks spend how much every year to WIN the WS?

they aren't gonna worry about profiting an extra 1.8 million and delay their win.

the 1.8 doesn't even pay the luxury tax on CC's contract

                Right Yanks probably don't care

MLB does, so does FOX. Umpires have been horrible and were pressured to make it a long series. Have you seen the fukkin strike zones for both teams?

It's not just $1.8 million per team from revenue. Ticket sales with tickets costing 4 figures for Yankees stadium. Selling t-shirts, hats and other memorabilia at Yankee stadium celebrating WS win. Vendors, hot dogs, beers, TV revenue from ad sales etc. The additional 2 games in NY would be in excess of $50 million revenue for the Yankees alone.

Correct Pavy. They just get $1.8 million from MLB, I guess from TV money, etc.

They still make bank on concessions, gift shop sales, beer sales, etc.

It is good to see others who can look outside the box. Cover all angles. Expecially big market games! Money makes the world go round! That is what they say right.
