Girardi what are you paid for?
The equation is simple...up 4-3, use Rivera for 2 innings and go up 3-1.

Are you telling me that 4 innings in 2 days is too much for him? What the hell is Girardi doing? He may have just lost the world series when his job is so simple.

He pitched 2 innings the other night, and also pitched last night.

I think Rivera gives up something if he comes in tonight, overworked.

He has pitched 3 innings in 4 days. Cliff Lee just pitched 9 innings in 1 day.

This mentality managers have about their star closers is ridiculous and loses tons of games.

Rivera is a professional athlete. He is not tired at all, this is the World Series man. Unfukinreal.

The problem was his decision to bring him in in game 3 up by 3 runs and only 2 outs to go. He needed to stick with Hughes 1 more batter to see if he could finish it off. He brought him unnecessarily before he had to in game 3, and therefore lowered his availability in game 4.

I disagree totally. Middle relievers come in and pitch I don't know how many innings. Starters go 100 pitches in 1 game.

Its just a backwards mentality. It makes no sense. The whole league should rethink this attitude. Your closer is a pro pitcher just like your starters are. So what if he comes back in the 9th after giving his all in the 8th and is a notch worse. He is now pitching to the 9th batter to start the 9th.

Plus I don't think it would take anything out of him to pitch the 8th.

Moot point now but I stand by what I said. Great closers should log many, many more innings than they do.

acarmelo that is not true. What happens after 2 innings? You didn't even give a pitch count???? What if they throw 6 pitches in the 2 innings? If the closer throws 6 pitches and comes out for a third inning what happens? Does his arm fall off?

Where does this ridiculous concept about closers being so frail come from? Its a mistake, its a mindset that is just wrong.

Yankees got through this one boys but I'm telling you there needs to be some wholesale changes made in the major leagues. Give me KRod, I'll pitch him twice the innings he gets right now. He won't necessarily be in for the end either. Whenever my team needs a stop, thats when I bring him in. I don't care if its the third inning.

He made the right choice with Joba, he was good in game 3. He has to trust his bullpen sometime.

Girardi is good at what he does. People give shit to managers and coaches non stop, but they know what they are doing. Fans just love to complain and pass judgment, as well as blame.

Girardi is up 3-1 in the World Series, he's doing something right
