There can certainly be some dips at times in RE prices but 10fold in last couple of years this is too much... It could take centuries to recover.

I live in the downtown area, in some of the new lofts. As soon as you get to the suburbs it turns bad real quick. Houses for 30k I would say that high is your looking for the cheapest. Detroit normally sells houses for $1.00 to people that will guarantee they will fix them in X amount of years. Since the auto industry is deflating and thats the bulk of Michigan jobs its really hurting the area. That and the influx of people w/o jobs and nothing to do with their time.
