Why were kids trick or treating on the 30th?

I was planning on getting some candy for them but looked like everyone was doing it yesterday so I didn't bother... I'm in the middle of the bible belt (Oklahoma) so it might be some Anti-Halloween thing but I'm not sure if had anything to do with it... Can anyone clue me in?

Where I grew up in and around southern NH and Maine, you went trick or treating on the 30th.

I did my own research and realized I overlooked the second (for some) most important thing after religion here which is of course football... "Just a reminder, the cities of Norman and Noble will observe Trick or Treat night on Friday instead of Saturday due to the night OU football home game." http://www.normantranscript.com/arch...tory_301011600 Obviously I'm clueless I don't bother reading the local paper...
