MLB: odds say Matchbook best bet for online gambling
written April 8, 2007
If you could only choose one Internet Sports Book to bet Baseball, many experts will tell you that Matchbook, www.matchbook.com is your best bet and I agree.
Here are what some posters are saying across the Internet on gambling forums.
"You really don't need anything but Matchbook for those nickel overnights. WSEX, www.wsex.com offers a good overnight number too. Only thing bad about Matchbook overnights is the liquidity is not so strong. Maybe its the early season, might get better as we go along. Can't easily bet a couple dimes at a nice number now, but I am sure an hour or less before a game you can get off lots of action on Matchbook with effectively a nickel line or less. That is the nuts without a doubt!"
Recently, I was asked to try out Matchbook for the March Madness basketball games and Baseball. Here are my observations:
1- No other Internet sports book offers lower juice when betting either Baseball sides or totals.
2- It is possible to see one penny differences on ball games. For example, as I am writing this column, the New York Yankees are being offered at -$1.35 today against the Baltimore Orioles. Most other sports books would offer Baltimore at +$1.25 or less. Matchbook currently has the Orioles at +$1.34!!!
3-The same hold true when betting Baseball totals. Most sports books use a 20 cent line but not this one. Matchbook currently is offering OVER 10 1/2 Runs at +$1.20 and UNDER 10 1/2 Runs at -$1.21 on this same Yankee/Orioles game!!!
4-Gamblers do have to pay a 2% commission on winning bets only, and it's important to note that you are not gambling against the sports book, but you are actually wagering against other bettors all over the Internet. This allows you to put up any offer with any line you are looking for on a Baseball game and there is a very good chance that another gambler will take you up on it if it's reasonable.
Finally, a big plus for Matchbook is the relative ease that people receive pay outs and the different methods offered to fund an account here .
Although this may not be entirely current due to the ever evolving consolidation of our industry, the following is from the funding section of their site that is of interest because it tells me that Matchbook is doing everything possible regarding convenience :
"Inter-book transfers allow you to transfer funds at no cost between Matchbook and most major sports books, including Pinnacle, Olympic, WSEX, Mansion, and 5 Dimes."
Simply put, whether or not you are a recreational gambler or a Professional, Matchbook sports book, www.matchbook.com is an absolute must.
