Got killed at 1:00. The afternoon was a little help. The night put a dent in the bleeding. The Yanks series didn't help. Tonight will stop the bleeding or send us to the hospital. Either way they still play the National Anthem every day. Good Luck.

    My two cents,

VEGAS wont lose money just by this, they are winners LONG TERM. Basically that is what the juice are for, your losing 110 and they are losing 100. 10 dollars of sure profit. YOu wonder y VEGAS have the most expensive City Center in the country huh(private funding wise). http://www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com/citycenter.htm

haha, you really think sportsbooks funded Vegas??! Try all the table games where the house has a built in edge no matter what and always wins in the long run. Vegas averages a 4.5% profit on a sportsbook...ask them what they get off of slots. There's a reason why 90% of casino floors are slot machines these days!

I don't know how many times I've had to have my tickets canceled because the clerk thought I was betting parlays in stead of straight bets.

It's unbelievable how many people bet parlays--really unbelievable. Everybody and their mother has 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 team parlays going. Parlay, parlay, parlay.

And they parlay everything with everything. College with pros. Totals with money line bets. Hockey, basketball, football and baseball. Every combination imaginable.

                  The books edge on a two-team (-110) parlay is 10% (it's 5% on a straight bet. Your disadvantage is -4.54%, but the bookies advantage is 5%. That's because you're risking 110 to win 100, while the bookie is risking 100 to win 100). On a 3-team parlay it's 12.5%. For a 4-teamer it's 31%, a five-team is 35%, 6-team=36%, 7-team is 41% and an 8 team parlay paying 100-1 is a 60% disadvantage.

Odds vary of course, and parlay cards are usually worse. It pays to shop around. The odds on a parlay card might be slightly higher, but the prices are usually shaded and they don't fluctuate. Ties might win, and ties might lose.

Private bookies usually do even better. That's because they offer 12-5 on two-teamers and 5-1 on 3 teamers.

Bookies clean up with parlays and teasers.
so when favorites go 9-1 how do you think parlays do?

Watching ESPN all day I heard twice references to how bookmakers were taking beatings with the Bad teams galore in the NFL this season.

You're right. All of the parlays win. No one ever puts a dog on their parlays. Plus the books never have winning weeks. One bad week and they're out of business. I noticed the Hilton, Venetian, Mirage, Coast casinos and the Bellagio sports books were all closing shop.

                          Good points

Look, I worked behind the counter in Vegas for 8+ years in every capacity and I can tell everyone firsthand, NEVER FEEL SYMPATHY FOR LAS VEGAS BOOKMAKERS, AS THE ONLY WAY THEY CANNOT HAVE A PROFITABLE FOOTBALL SEASON IS BY SIMPLY BEING BAD BOOKMAKERS.

Parlay CARDS and TEASER cards alone have house rakes associated with them comparable to that of KENO!!!

I worked at the Castaways under Sonny Reizner, never ONCE did he have a losing bookmaking season in ANY sport. I repeat, no losing SEASON in ANY sport in his tenure at the Castaways. If one knows how to make book, it is almost impossible to lose if you have average volume or better.
