    college football OT question
Lets say USC is -12 over Washington and the total is 54

    after 4 quarters it's 21-21

USC gets the ball first in OT and scores a touchdown. 28-21

on Washington's 1st OT possession, the QB throws a sideline pass and the ball is picked off and run back for a touchdown.

    Is the final 34-21?

    I assume yes?
I also assume no extra point will be kicked?
    USC covers the 12?
Or is the play blown dead and the win by 7? 28-21?

        interesting question ,
they wont kick an extra point, if the td is allowed thats for sure ,
but i guess most of the times guy who intecepts the ball just kneels down and ends the game

          that's what I thought.

so basically, if you have a team -9 or higher heading into OT, your bet is toast

I didn't know the rule was changed.

Recently I've been wondering about such a bet that I won in the 90s ( in the early days of overtime) . I forget the details, but I'm almost sure I won a bet at minus more than 7 in overtime. I think maybe what was described above happened - but not sure. I think Ariz St was one of the teams - but not sure. Did this really happen ? Or did I dream it?

before sending this post I decide to use google --- I didn't dream it --- here's what I found :

              en.allexperts.com/q/College-Football-2792/Overtime-games.htm

Largest winning margin in overtime (Arizona State def. Southern California 48-35 in 1996 and Central Michigan def. Eastern Michigan 36-23 in 1998).
