London may hold 4 NFL games in 2012
The boss of NFL UK has said he aims to stage four American Football games a season in London by 2012.

Alistair Kirkwood told the BBC they hope to stage two games in the city next year and, if successful, double that number by 2012.

I'm sure season ticket holders are thrilled about this.

I doubt it, we've lost Monday Night Football this year due to low ratings.

I bet Sunday Night does better, all Monday Night Football is are the former Sunday Night clowns from ESPN. The real Monday Night is Sunday; they get the better match ups and the commentary is much better.

I think it's to eventually add European teams to the league and have one huge world sport with another 4 weeks of play, and to eliminate pre-season entirely.

It's cheaper to have the games in Europe. Have you looked at the dollar/Euro exchange rate lately?

If the NFL adds a European team(s) and starts taking the game overseas, I'll stop watching as much. That's silly, it's an American sport, keep it in America, season ticket holders don't want their home games being taken away from their hometown. It's just about corporate greed taking over an American sport.

I would not want to be in London's division. What a disadvantage having to play over there.

Basketball is an american game and has flourished for years overseas.

NFL ratings have held steady over the years, we've lost MNF (and SNF next year) due to financial reasons. Channel 5 have ditched all sport in favour of their crappy live casino show which is all about money, Sky got rid of the late games and the red button to save money during the economic downturn

Not sure what your point is here, surely them adding a European team would mean no team would lose home games? As opposed to the situation now.

My general opinion is you keep your armoured wankball, and we'll keep our soccer. Screw the corporate dollar

Yeah but NBA teams don't fly all over the world to play. It puts the teams at a disadvantage for a run to the playoffs taking away a home game.

i dont know why they are only concentrating on london ,
back when the nfl europe existed with 3 or more teams from germany, suddenly there were so many people , who got interested in football and went to the games although some of them didn't even know the rules.
Frankfurt Galaxy always had between 30-50 000 people attending their home games and the atmosphere was simply amazing.

I still remember when i went to the world bowl of the last nfl europe season in frankfurt, it was absolutely great and i would love to see a nfl game in germany.

They asked people in the London streets what they thought of American football.

"Is that where they dress up as astronauts?"

That's because the Euro teams fly to US to play them. The idea is when Euro teams are established in Europe then the flying will be mutual. Football is a few years back before conquering Europe.
