some definitely do care about winning, but I agree much more guys that people realize just want to show up, do their job, make their money and go home. They don't care how many wins the team gets or how far in the playoffs they go. it's just a job for them, and that's really all you can expect from them.

Every athlete that makes over 1/2 million a year (which is almost all of them in the 4 major American sports) is living the life. Of course, many of them are also driven to win a championship, but in the end if they don't win one, does it really matter?

Dan Marino is the only guy I can think of off the top of my head that it did really matter.

You could see it on the Dodgers players faces before the game... Manny is no leader... They came into the game ready to lose... Padilla was way over due to pitch poorly and everything fell right in line. When Manny had a chance to help his team...think it was 6-3 Phils with a man on base he hit that weak infield grounder toward third and ran real slow... At that point I knew I won my bet on the Phillies. I am sure most of his teammates would like to see him and the Cubbies Milton Bradley given a kick in the ass!

I am not a Phillie fan, am actually a Cincy Red fan, but you have to love the way the Phillies play baseball.

No stories about overblown ego, no bitching, no whining---a bunch of guys that 90% of baseball fans still can't name---Werth, Victorino, Ruiz, Durbin---they have guys who just go out and do their job.
