Man, this week was so big for WVU in so many ways...
1. We win the NIT, Frank Young shoots SIXTY NINE PERCENT from beyond the arc in the tournament... talk about seniors stepping up. It was awesome to see him go out with a win.
2. We are 99% going to lose Beilein which is still killing me. I loved watching WVU basketball like I've never loved basketball before with this guy... both the offense and defense were like poetry in motion. I know Michigan is a bigger name school, but I still don't know why he would want to leave a team he's taken to the elite 8, sweet 16 and NIT championship over the last 3 years with a ton of players returning to go to a team that hasn't made the tourney in 6 years...
I really can't even imagine WVU basketball without Beilein anymore, I know we made the sweet 16 under Catlett but it just won't seem right.
3. Noel Devine commits. Assuming that he can qualify (big assumption) this could be the most ridiculous backfield ever assembled in college football. You already have arguably the two fastest players in college football now that Ginn is gone with Slaton and Pat White who are both going to be in their 3rd years of starting... You have the big bruiser Owen Schmitt who is probably the best fullback in the country since Leonard is gone (although I hear USC's new guy is pretty sick too).
Last year WVU had the most 40 and 50 yard touchdowns by a HUGE margin (I forget what the numbers were) and now they have 3 guys who can take it the distance every single time they touch the ball...
Now, add Barry Sanders #2 to that equation, and what the hell more can you do? How do you make use of all that talent and speed? If anyone can figure it out, it's Rich Rodriguez...
On the other hand, the offense might just HAVE to be that good since I'm just praying their defense improves to "slightly below average"...
