the secret has been out a long time on brewer. baseball has 5-tool players, and so does basketball. 5 tools in basketball are: dribbling, shooting, slashing to the basket, defending, and rebounding. brewer can excel at all 5, but it's his slashing ability and his ability to defend that sets him apart.

he reminds pro scouts of a guy named scottie pippen, whom i'm sure everyone here has heard of. brewer is the closest thing to pippen in terms of versatility that has come out in a long, long time.

Did someone say there are only two rounds to the draft in the NBA? Thats news to me. I certainly wouldnt burn a 2nd rounder on him. But if I'm a team like Dallas or even SA or Phx I'd try to steal him and take a shot at getting 5 min a night and a couple of 3's. But he isnt fast enough to be a pg is he? How could he defend a Tony Parker type with no speed or size?

John, i was the one who said the nba draft is only 2 rounds. it has been this way since the 1989 draft. there were 3 rounds in 1988. prior to 1988, there were 7 rounds. these days, only 60 guys get drafted total. anyone else who wants to make the nba must go via free agency, cba, nba developmental league, or get discovered while playing overseas.

I did a web search and found ESPN's insider listing the top 10 as follows:

Oden, Durant, Horford, B. Wright, Noah, Jianlian, J. Wright, M. Conley, Brewer, J. Green

Maybe I'm way out of line on Noah, but I don't see him in the top 10, much less #5. I can't see Horford in the top 5, but probably in the top 10. I'd put Brewer closer to #3 behind Oden & Durant.

Humphrey, Green & Richard should all get drafted. But, I bet only 1 of these 3 are still in the NBA in 3 years. I'm leaning on Richard as my favorite of these 3, but it's close.

i agree with you about noah possibly slipping out of the top 10.

              humphrey drafted? highly unlikely.

green drafted? yes, mid to late 2nd round.

              richard? highly unlikely.

on draft day you'll remember that i told you this.

                cb1,

yeah, it's very sketchy projecting the NBA 2nd round. I'm clearly no expert. I've been doing some more reading and Taurian Green is projected in the 2nd round, with Humphrey & Richard not really mentioned, so your opinion aligns with the experts. It's really a crapshoot in the 2nd round on what teams are looking for or willing to roll the dice on.

The reason I'm knocking Noah so far down the board is because this year's draft is just so stacked with talent. Noah is probably kicking himself for not going last year. The kid's got potential, but so do a ton of other kids in this draft.

my opinion on the subject was formed during this past cb regular season, well before i saw any draft boards. it's 15-16 yrs of watching hoops on both levels very closely that allows me to give strong and mostly accurate opinions on where guys will be drafted. i've developed an eye for it over quite a few yrs now.

Many people on here said that we should not get real excited about Lee Humphrey at the next level -- the NBA teams agreed as he went undrafted.

No offense to Humphrey, who is a very good shooter, but it's a heck of a lot easier to get open 3-pointers when you have a total of 5 NBA draft picks (Horford, Brewer, Noah, Richards, Green) around you. Without that protection around him to help him get open looks, Humphreys would have struggled in college.

I wish him well, but his future is not in the NBA, imo..
