Do you avoid betting on your favorite teams?
I wanted to ask some of you more experienced bettors - do you intentionally shy away from betting on your favorite team(s)? For example I'm a big Packer fan, and I never want to make any bets or picks on them. My reasoning is that if they lose I'm going to be pissed off to begin with, so I don't want to end up being even more mad if the bet loses. I also don't ever want to be in a position to cheer for the opposing team to score or not wanna cheer for my team to score to make the over/under.

Do any of you feel the same way? Or do you think it's somewhat foolish to eliminate one team's games and the potential winnings from those games?

If I think my favorite team is going to make me money, I will bet against them in a heart beat. It makes it hard to wacth the game though. But your bet is not going to change the outcome of the game, so might as well make that cash.

I like to promote emotional stability during gambling. There is never a need to get mad because of a wager. We know that any bet may lose before we bet so the calmness should be established and maintained so that our thought process is clear when we make the next wager. I may get angry at myself if I do something silly like bet over my head, but that is on me. As well, I try and not get to happy either with a win. Emotional stability has a lot to do with your happiness and life is to short to be mad over the past once the final result is in.

I do pick for and against my fav teams. It took awhile to learn that I will win some and prob lose more, but once I realized this, everything seemed easier.

Key rule when playing a favorite team is OJECTIVITY. Ofcourse this should apply to all wagers but it is even more critical when a loyalty is involved. No-one should know your team better than you so if you can absolutely maintain objectivity you should see if they have value in a contest or not.

Florida is and has always been my team and I have wagered on them several times. I've wagered for and against depending on the situation. It might only be 1 or 2 times a year but I will wager on them. I tend to wait for key games throughout the year rather than week to week because it helps to enjoy their season and their games more than their outcome differential.

Halak in net could go either way. No Markov is killing this team. Probably doesn't help their top line are all under 5'9" either. Atlanta looking good, coming off 2 wins on the road, looking for the elusive road sweep. It'll be close.
