The chalk fav would be some kind of water snake. Let it go.
Agreed. Beautiful animals.

I like snakes. No legs or arms and almost always the underdog. Birds eat them, cars run them over and regular normal people who wouldnt hurt a fly go pyscho homocidal and out of their way to kill them. Yet they continue to eat rodents and other critters.

Not telling you to kiss it, but John's right that it's not poisonous, certainly is not a Copperhead, Rattler or Moccasin. Robyn's idea that it's a Milk Snake is where I'm leaning, either that or a Fox Snake.

You telling me they have these ****ers in South Bend? I'm more afraid of snakes than any other animal. I'd rather be in a pool with a great white shark than a room with a snake. How did you catch it?

I kill every snake that trespasses on my property ever since a rattler bit my dog. I used to catch and release but no more.
Revenge is all mine.

While I could never kill a living creature on purpose, I rely on people like you to do the bidding for me. I hateeeeeeeeeeeee snakes (but I do understand and respect their place in nature).

What about the idiots in Florida who purchase baby snakes and then when they grow, they realize that they are too big/expensive to care for and let them loose in the everglades? Allll kinds of problems down here because of it.

They thrive and grow to enormous size in the everglades. They do not thrive in the city.

looks like a rat snake to me
harmless and will eat critters around the yard.
never heard of a non venomous water snake. Here, if theres a snake in the water its either a copperhead or mocassion.
My buddy found this one in his yard not long ago

looks like he's trying to escape...so I think he's harmless, tha nasty ones will stay and fight...at least that's what I saw on Animal Planet, especially when they see a camera they like to show off, for example a true cobra will stay and fight, will never take the chance to be seen on youtube running like a puss.

my two jack russels were circling something about a week ago, walked up and there was a dead snake, it was just a garter snake tho, about the only kind you will find in central ohio. Just read this also (non-venmous on the left)
NONVENOMOUS SNAKES 1. Head usually oval, but may be somewhat triangular.
2. Pupils round.
3. No pits-only nostrils present.
4. Divided scales on underside of tail
5. Although many snakes vibrate their tail when upset, nonvenomous snakes never have rattles
VENOMOUS SNAKES(image on the right) 1. Head distinctly triangular.
2. Pupils elliptical.
3. Pits as well as nostrils present.
4. Undivided scales on underside of tail.
5. Except for the copperhead, tail ends in a rattle.
