George Steinbrenner isn't the richest owner in baseball, (for the record, Twins owner Carl Pohlad is) Steinbrenner just spends more money to give Yankee fans a better team to watch. The truth is it is much more profitable for owners like Pohlad to let go of players like Santana, Hunter, Nathan, and Mauer when their contracts expire and it's up to fans to put pressure on him to give a sh*t about winning, otherwise you will never win a title.
