Absolutely. The worst poster of 2009 will have an elite 8 competition that will start real soon. That will be practice for the real deal, the poster of the year.

I want to get everyone's thoughts on how many posts should be required to vote in the polls. Last year it was 500 but we're considering 750 (this is to keep ghosts from voting). I think 500 is fine and I'm gonna go with that for the worst poster polls unless the board wants it to be more.

He means... only 1 out of the 8 people in the elite 8 will have went to the bash in 2009...not exactly representing SBR.

This needs to be clarified immediately. As poker_dummy said only one of the elite 8 attended 2009 Bash and since he has been fired he won't attend next year.

If points are involved in this it will be madness. There's already people trying to cheat in just the first couple of hours of the worst poster poll which no one really cares about and which has no points at stake.

If you bring a significant amount of points into the poster of the year poll, this whole place will go mad in ways you can't imagine. SBR would have to work overtime to police the whole thing, I don't think it's worth it personally.

The nomination thread starts at the beginning of November. I'm thinking now we'll do what we did last year for the first two rounds of voting:

top 84 go into 4 polls, we take the waited average totals from the first two rounds of voting

Then for the new part: we do the sweet 16 competition where you start from scratch with voting.

That sounds good but jjgold, Bread, Pavyracer and a couple of others will determine the nomination round. The second round will bring things into balance. The Sweet 16 gives the majority a chance to determine the winner. I think it's a nice, clean system.

I agree that any group that looks like a syndicate should be banned from voting. I'll let payingthejuice or somebody preside over a trial and let a jury consider the evidence and decide what to do or something like that.
