Um, no. He is barely a top 10 first basemen. Let alone the best at anything.

                            Word.

There are more than 2 young guys who have a much higher OPS than Howard.

But let's not let the facts get in the way of a discussion.

Seriously, Joey Votto has the same career wOBA as Howard. No one would ever talk about Votto being the best at anything.

I think all those first basemen are easily better than Howard. I would put Howard in the 5-8 range at best at HIS POSITION, let alone the entire league.

The guy is an amazing power hitter, but he strikes out wayyyy too much, goes into slumps where he is useless, doesn't play defense like the guys ahead of him, and absolutely cannot hit for average like the guys ahead of him. He's a power hitter that will hit .250 and lead the league in K's every year, other than maybe Reynolds.

When he gets into hot streaks he is lights out which gets people all excited about him, but just wait until next season when he starts off poorly and everyone will call him overrated again. People overreact to everything they see instead of thinking about the body of work

maybe not the youngest but a consistent powerhouse with the most home runs 05-09 and if he stays with the phils for a few more years hell break all kinds of records. yeah he strikes out but thats the price you pay for 40+ HR's a year and 140 rbi's

But I won't be impressed until he breaks some OPS records.
