Of probably the 50 people I have talked to about the cite you are the absolute FIRST to ever say that. Everyone I know says its an absolute gem and a very underrated city.

I hear the people are friendly, the girls are pretty, the city is clean and has a great nightlife...

AMB, I can not recommend any place to go, but can tell you...It was nice 10 or 12 years ago when I was there. Nice last year as well. And you are right, the girls are smoking. Safe times Man.

Just get downtown and you can walk from bar to bar. I like the Wild Wing Cafe. They always have the games on. The College of Charleston Coeds are smoking. You can't beat the food either.

Firegog is right, Savannah is better. Have fun.

I went to medical school at MUSC and my son is a proud graduate of The Citadel. So, all told, I've spent 10 years in the port city...

If you like seafood, make sure you hit Hyman's in downtown Charleston. http://hymanseafood.com/. Another good seafood restraunt, that perhaps appeals to a slightly younger crowd is A. W. Shucks in downtown Charleston. http://www.a-w-shucks.com/cms_pages/index.php.

Depending on your age and interests... Make sure you spend some time and walk through the Market in downtown Charleston - lots of cool stuff there. The USS Yorktown in over in Mt. Pleasant is worth a visit. Also, there are trips to Ft. Sumter, where the Civil War began. (shameless plug for my son's school) If you get down on a Friday, get over to The Citadel - The Military College of the South and watch a parade. It's free and the bagpipes are killer!
