Really? With all the problems in the world, this should be so far down the list of important shit that noone should know that it exists.

I haven't received any letters but the last few times I've deposited checks I got a real uneasy feeling from the tellers. They really studied the check and one time they even had me sign a hold of funds waiver for ten days because the check was from Canada. Not sure what that was all about? And no, I'm not being paranoid. In all the years I've deposited checks I've never got a feeling like that until recently and that was before I read the article posted.

I usually deposit these funds into my Credit Union....I am so sick of these big banks taking advantage of me..Especially Bank of America. Credit Union hasn't really given me any problems regarding depositing into account or even funding offshore with their debit card

The reason they study the checks are the routing #'s, they can tell by them where the check is payable from, and if the check proccesor and paying bank are from different countries it raises suspision.

Don't read too much into what bank tellers think. I've had a bank teller tell me that a brand new check was almost expired. He didn't understand that 11/6 (m/d) is 6/11 (d/m) in Europe.

The checks are from foreign banks. Beyond that, it's none of the banks business who send it.

I have always cashed my checks through the ATM and have never had a problem. Have never wanted to deal with a nosey teller when it is none of her fvcking business where the check is from.

But that's what Fishhead is trying to get across in this thread. They are going to start making it their business. If they do it could cripple the industry. Think of how profitable it is for banks to charge fees everywhere. If they are given a free pass to seize entire accounts because of the suspicion of offshore gambling $$ they will almost surely make it a top priority. Once they start to compile a list of known processors who are the offshore books going to be able to turn to? This could end up being a serious problem.
