    Does anyone know about Intrade?
What do you guys think about Intrade.com to play the market?
I haven't got the hang of it totally but they seem to be a great place to start if you just have a few quid available and can't afford E-MINI day trading contract(s) or let alone Pattern day trading contract(s) but still want to get in the action. However their liquidity from where i stand seems to have it's limits and i wonder how much one can make playing their DOW contracts over a month if you start with 5k?

I used them way back when they were TradeSports.com. I am not exactly sure about the question you are asking but it was pretty fun. Almost like what live betting is today (maybe same concept as Matchbook). I never had a payout there so don't know how reliable they are

They're a TradeSports spinoff. The markets available at Intrade were at TS before the split. They started out on a bad note when TS players were 'allowed' to move funds into their Intrade accounts, which were suddenly separate, but then were prohibited from moving their money back to TS. Without being told upfront that this would be the case...

Liquidity is very low at Intrade. They're mentioned pretty regularly on CNBC, and, like TS, are known for accurate political election forecasts.

boy do i miss TradeSports,i didn't know that intrade was a spinoff.
Today old chum i was looking at the Intrade (financial market)and the representative told me that you'll find the most liquidity there, however i haven't grasp yet the full concept and the payout structure is still nebulous to me.DH if you could give me a ball park figure on How much you can make in a month for example playing their market section if you where to start with 5k?
          thanks

They have a pretty regular market maker for daily dow and hourly dow.

I think during the trading day (MM is also there sometimes in non-trading hours) he is 2% wide, i.e bet $45 to make $55 going long, bet $57 to make $43 selling short (not including commission and expiry fees).

It used to be 5% wide so it's much better now.

There was some dissention there recently because Intrade gave the MM exclusive use of the API for Dow trading, so he's pretty much got a monopoly.

I am sure he will have no problem taking your $5k action per month, not sure what you mean by how much you can win. You can win as much as you can profit trading.
