    Did VIP.com cheat me?
Ok I placed a $25 dollar 6 game parlay today on baseball. I had the phillies, marlins, reds, braves, cubs, and rockies.
The phillies pushed, marlins, reds, and braves won, and the cubs and rockies games were cancelled due to weather. Now when the cubs game entered into a delay but before it was cancelled i went to a live chat and asked the person how many innings needed to be completed in preseason baseball to be graded. After a couple minutes she came back and told me that all games must be completed IN FULL in preseason baseball to be graded.

I was surprised by this, but was happy once I found out the cubs game was cancelled after 5 innings and they lost 1-0. I went to my account to find the parlay graded as a loss. I went to live chat again, and after much talking back and forth was told the line department "implied" the rule that all games are gradeable after 5 complete innings. This is completely contrary to what i was told, and all he could tell me is i was misinformed. My question is where did the first person i talked to get her info? She was obviously told the rules were different for preseason games, as opposed to regular season games, otherwise she would have just told me that the rules were the same. I feel robbed and cheated and I want my $208!!! what do you guys think?

What do the betting rules on the site say about this? Obviously they should abide by those rules but, having said that, it's a bit sloppy if you were given duff information.

thats the thing the betting rules say after five complete innings it can be graded which i understand, and which is why i was surprised when i was told otherwise. I simply do not understand how she got her information if it's not true. I mean if the rules were the same it seems pretty simple that she would just state the rules were the same and it's graded after 5 complete innings. She wouldnt just make up a new rule that games must be completed in full for preseason games. And she even specified FOR PRESEASON GAMES

                  Dbldown11 -

You didn't get screwed. Their rule is normal for the industry. They followed their rule, but the person you spoke with in CSD didn't know or understand the rule. You do have a valid complaint about customer service not knowing the book's grading rules.

yes but the person i spoke to put me on hold to speak with someone else. And she obviously knew the rule was different for regular season because she specified that a complete game must be played for "pre-season". at the very least i should be refunded I feel. especially considering my history with the book

Dude, I'm not mocking you at all. It's just some friendly ribbing. You gotta admit that MLB preseason parlay bettors are pretty rare!

That's a tough way to lose the parlay. Not sure if you got cheated or not. If it was regular season, then your parlay would probably be correctly graded a loss according to their written rules. But it's preseason, and the customer service told you something else. I don't know.

I sent your email to mgt. for the chance they may want to throw you a bone but Justin is right. If the clerk gave you wrong info before your bet was in you would have a case.

A Bet365 player wrote in with almost the same complaint today. His was costly because bad LiveChat info prevented him from making a winning bet.

Hi there, I was wondering if you could help with this situation, or at least provide some insight as to who is right/wrong.

Last night I wagered on a live in-play NHL game, Calgary vs. Nashville while the score was 2-2. My wager was that there would not be a 5th goal scored.

At the end of regulation play, the score was still 2-2. During the break before OT commenced, I contacted customer service at bet365.com via their live chat. I asked the customer service rep if OT is included in the wager because, if it is, I would like to hedge my bet and wager on both Calgary and Nashville to score the 5th goal (Both paying better than +400). He responded by saying he will check on that and get back to me shortly. He came back within a few seconds and told me that OT is NOT included in the wager (which would mean that my original wager of no 5th goal scored would be a winner).

While I was chatting with the rep, OT began and I saw the betting option of a 5th goal being scored was still available in the live in-play window. I told the rep this and asked him to please quickly double-check as I need to hedge my bets.

Amazingly enough, during the time that he was double checking, Calgary scored. He then came back and told me that he had mis-informed me and that OT IS included in the wager.

I spoke to the supervisor for over half an hour explainiing that I felt he should take responsibility for the mistakes of the employees and void the bet. All to no avail. They refused to do anything to remedy the situation.

I think the guy would have been bettor off if customer service just told him they didn't know. Then he wouldn't have bet on that game. Seriously, a lot of customer service mistakes could be avoided if they just said they didn't know and would check instead of giving quick unsure answers.

That's happened to me before. I asked about something they give me one answer. Couple hours later, "sorry but I checked with so and so department, and I gave you wrong information". You know the rest.

I would just like to inform everyone of the outcome of this situation. Thanks to Bill who sent my e-mail to the managers at VIP which basically outlined the story of what happend, VIP credited my account for $75 which I am more than happy with. I posted this thread shortly after the incident and was very upset about it. Obviously thinking you won 200 dollars and finding out you lost 25 can do that. I realize that the rules are what they are, and I was misinformed and cannot expect to have the whole amount paid out, and am very appreciative to VIP for the good will gesture. Thanks to you also Bill for your help in the matter.

This is just another example of the shitty customer service that VIP has been giving the last couple of years. I have never seen any book with so many people in customer service that have no clue as to what is going on. Time and time again one person tells you one thing and then someone else comes up the next day and they tell you the complete opposite. I was screwed out of a bonus there about a year ago. They admitted that they were completely wrong yet did not have the smart business sense of making it right. I will never play there again and I know several others that won't go back there either.
