For players this is bad news. My guess is they will turn the mybookie family into clones of VIP. So the net effect will be fewer choices for players to go.

Persoanlly, as soon as Rick joined Mybookie, I knew that was the death knell for the book. Its like every place he goes to, closes down or gets taken over.

How long will it be before most of the books are owned by CRIS, VIP, Olympic, BoDog, WSEX, and BOS?

its only VIP who thinks that having tons of clones is good, personally i rate them a lot lower than Pinny, Oly, Cris or WSEX.
The term "in a class by themselves" doesnt fit this bookie imo...
the CS is good, but they dont even have NHL period lines and stuff, and the lines are boring. Also neteller payouts are slow, anywhere from several hours to 1 whole day.

Speaking for myself only, I like to have variety and choices in sportsbooks. If the 10 major sportsbooks own the other 100, there's not much variety or choice there. They turn into clones. Same lines, same bonuses, same software, etc. The only difference is the name and website. It hasn't happened to a book I regularly play at, but I think its coming soon. The rich get richer and the big get bigger.

Good point... But you also have to consider that many times some operation purchase other sportsbook to reach a different kind of market. I'm sure that VIP decided to purchase Nine.com to go after more newbies and recreational players.

All VIP clones are for recreational players, there is not much a pro would like at those books.
Maybe besides the fast played 200$ bonus, and them being slow as a snail in moving their lines sometimes

More like a 6 hours through Neteller with VIP. I had done this 4 times this year withdrawing 9AM EST but money doesn't get to Neteller til 4PM EST.

If I can get money to Neteller around 9-10AM I can have money in my bank the next morning. But VIP always late with Neteller withdraw.

well, they will become clones. but, at least we might not see as many complaints from the players getting paid once VIP takes over.

One of the major differnces between VIP and sportingbet, Cris, and mybookie is that with VIP when it comes to bonuses, if you ask for a bonus from one book they check thier records at all the books, so if you took a withdrawal from gameday a year ago, you might not be elgible to egt a bonus at VIP today. Whereas with mybookie, you can open an aco**** at each of thier books and get the signup bonus, and if you are not eligible for a reload bonus at one book, you might still get it at anohter. Same with Cris and sportingbet sites.

So for players who are still able to play at mybookie, its a loss of a bonus book, plus all the perks like some very soft numbers and a juice free game..

Is this pretty much a done deal? I wouldn't mind signing up there - I've heard about some good lines there but always been put off by the dubious actions of the book themselves, problems which you wouldn't have under the VIP banner.

A premature disclosure of a deal of this nature may lead to serious consequences for publicly traded VIP.

Hopefully this will not be the case, however caution should be to the highest level when one of the parties is publicly traded and has not made the official announcement yet.

Seems this early rumor may have some truth t it then ............

9/23/2005 Well known mid size sports book sale negotiations at audit stage
5.35 am EDT Sales negotiations of a well knwon mid-size sports book to a British Group have reached the audit stage. Buying party is currently auditing the books and numbers of the seller. The process began after the buying party made a mid eight digit offer to the prospect seller. The UK Group has been actively seeking to purchase a 100% post up well established mid size operation since early this year. There is no indication as to if and when the acquisition will go through at this time.

If this did indeed precede the Stock Exchange announcement, there will be consequences for VIP...

TheOffshoreWire readers know this is old news since we hinted at the brewing deal on 9/23
Looks like TOW is the guilty party since they were the first to disclose this information according to Roberto

VIP needs to acquire a gameplan on how to communicate with it's customers...I have already personally been responsible for 4 people closing their accounts with these guys and will not stop there...they hate people from Nevada and that pisses me off!...do I sound bitter?...
