There was no way in hell the NFL wanted the Vikings-Favre to lose last night.OK,Favre played great and the Packers offensive line was in tatters but the refs steered the game's complexion in favor of the Vikes all game long. The Favre end zone interception interference call was the game changer.Anyone betting this game should have realized the fix was in for the Vikes. The Packers were to the Vikings as the Washington Generals are to the Harlem Globetrotters. The Packers were the sacrificial lambs that weren't going to stand in the way of the NFL's poster child losing a cornerstone in his career game.
Refs and NFL made sure Packers played the part of Washington Generals.

#4While I agree that was a ticky tack pass interference call it wouldn't have made a difference anyway. That Interception would have not counted because there was an offsides call as well. That was clear too if you look at the replay. so looks like another conspiracy theory out the window.Originally posted by BrentCrudeThere was no way in hell the NFL wanted the Vikings-Favre to lose last night.OK,Favre played great and the Packers offensive line was in tatters but the refs steered the game's complexion in favor of the Vikes all game long. The Favre end zone interception interference call was the game changer.Anyone betting this game should have realized the fix was in for the Vikes. The Packers were to the Vikings as the Washington Generals are to the Harlem Globetrotters. The Packers were the sacrificial lambs that weren't going to stand in the way of the NFL's poster child losing a cornerstone of his career game.Comment -

What you talking about? Either way they would still have been in same position. The game changed when they didnt kick the fg on 4th and goal. It would have been 28-17 if they kicked it. The vikes would never have gotten the safety and pack would have been down 28-24 on the final drive. Now do the mathComment -

#11I f they kick the FG the whole course of history changes who knows what happens. Kicking would of been a horrible call though because the field position is worth damn near 3 points. If they kick the Vikings might get a decent return and then drive for a TD, when they did not score on the drive from the 1.Comment -

#12You do not think Favre completely shredding their awful defense and throwing for 3 tds and completing almost every pass for nearly 300 yards had anything to do with it do you?
Or the decision to go on 4th and 1, or the interception, fumble and 8 sacks of Rodgers had anything to do with it???Comment -

#15You're assuming too much on the FG. Viking wouldn't of started one their own 1. Vikings could of scored a FG or TD after the Packers kicked off being down 28-17 since the Vikings would have way better field position. Who knows what would of happened and I think it was a good call to go for it on 4th and goal, Lee should of caught that pass for a TD.Originally posted by lakerboyWhat you talking about? #21Really? The fix was in? Lee drops a touchdown in the endzone. A field goal instead puts them down by only 7 on the final drive. The Packers were also offsides on the pass interference call. Favre completed 3 touchdown passes that had to be absolutely perfect to be sucessful. The first was thrown against the grain and could have easily been intercepted + ran back for a 100 yd touchdown, the second was fit into a tiny window and the third was a perfect timing throw. The packers O line is horrible and Rodgers still had almost 400 yards passing. What did the refs have to do with anything?
The only horrible call I saw was allowing Peterson to be stood up and driven backwards without blowing the whistle for foward progress and allowing the Packers back in the game by stripping the football and running it back for a touchdown.

#23If they would have kicked the Field Goal, I would have went to the store to pick up cigarettes during the commercial - thereby meeting Sara Michelle Gellar in the checkout line - she left her purse in her BMW and I have to loan her 4 dollars for the pack of Juicy Fruit gum and can of Red Bull she has - she then proceeds to take me back to her home to watch the rest of the game, which leads to me dumping my girlfriend, and living the rest of my life in Santa Barbara watching my new wife's shitty movies.

#26Fix?
1) GB couldn't finish in the red zone.
2) GB picked their poison; taking out Peterson, but allowing Favre to pick them apart.
3) GB offensive line allowed 8 sacks. No sacks the other way.
4) GB had one more turnover.
5) Game was a blowout until Childress, with GB up 28-13, decided to play Martyball for the final 25 minutes. (Vikings could have easily scored in the 40's otherwise).
6) Both of GB's first two TD's were essentially flukes. The first on a broken up play, the second on a AP fumble; giving the impression that the game was close at the half. These things happen in football, of course, but don't confuse those type of scores with the dominant in-control way the Vikings marched down the field.
If you're going to identify a fix at least do so in a game where your team isn't completely dominated.Comment -

#29Just for the record, the AP fumble (and resulting TD) was borderline 'forward progress'. The refs could have easily called that, because Packers were holding up Peterson (making sure he didn't go down) well after his progress was stopped. Those are judgment calls that can go either way.Comment -

#30i love conspiracy theories!
And as for the person who said "the refs" fixed it for the patriots on Sunday, what about the 2 roughing the passer penalties they got against them when they played Buffalo in week 1? Or the 10-1 differential in calls when they lost to the Jets...you guys are unbelievable sometimes!
Do refs miss calls? Absolutely...do they try to "steer" the game. Hell no!
If GB had won this game, the NFL and ESPN and all corporate interests would have had a story line also...the dethroning of Favre...or his chance for vengeance in Lambeau in 3 weeks. The NFL is theatre, I agree...but its definitely not scripted.
ps: all you conspiracy theorists are probably the ones who believed WWF was real until high school!! lolComment -

#34look to say there is no conspiracy your not looking into the depth of the game. former president richard nixon use to call plays for the washington redskins over the phone to coach george allen. which is a huge conflict of interest. Theres just to many conflicts of interest with college football and nfl refs. All the refs jobs are made by the coaches and players. They are rated by the coaches and players and the refs with the highest ratings go to a bowl game or they move from college to nfl and on to the playoffs and superbowl. Its funny because high school football refs dont have this system in place. Remember when you place abet on a team its just not the other team your playing against its the coaches the refs the owners the athletic directors the univesity presidents and others that control access to bowl games.Comment -
