100 points for best sharp analysis re: SBR points
At 2:40 pm EST on Saturday (after a lot of games have kicked off), I'm giving away 100 points to one person replying in this thread.

    Assume the following:
    1. The person redeeming points resides in South Bend
    2. The redeemer has exactly as many points as necessary to maximize redemption values
    3. Any item worth more than $100 will be resold at only 66% of its face value; non-edible items worth less than $100 will be resold at 80% of full value.
    4. Any edible pizza will only be half eaten, making its fair value half of its retail value.
    5. In valuing items, retail evaluation will be used. Retail will be determined by "best evidence" via links, decided by me.

What single item gives you the best conversion rate of points to dollars (whether resold or using "edible value")?

The best answer will win 100 points. "best" to me means most information added - as soon as someone else posts something, that information is no longer added by subsequent posters. If all responses suck, no points will be awarded.

I will add more in subsequent posts but for the mean time.

            2 TRU gift cards = $100 = 1562 Points

Every holiday season TRU has a buy 2 get the 3rd free video game sale.

$100 for $150 in PS3, X360, Pc, DS, Wii whatever.

Sell the 3 games that value $50 each for 80% aka your conversion rate and you have a value of

            1562 points = $120

the link above shows the next one as next week!!!

Good value if not GREAT value.

                781 points = $50 walmart gift card

No sales tax in south bend.

Purchase 50 (fifty) Banquet 9oz meals at Walmart for $0.99 each.

50 meals eaten 3 times a day will last you 18+ days.

The average american spends $6.33 a day on food

                18 days * $6.33 a day = $113.94

This also leaves over 2 uneaten meals.

                781 points = $113.94.

I won't edit my post but South Bend actually has a 6.0% sales tax but it does not apply to food. That was my implication in the post.

You are correct, as apparent as some of my minor errors are it is evident that I whipped up the answer pretty quickly as all information is on a first come first serve basis according to Justin7.

I'm sure he will see my oversite and understand

Proper brewing basics says one cup of water + 1 oz ground coffee = One cup of coffee.

The average price of a cup of Starbucks or DD is not available in South Bend but it ranges from $1.35 to $1.65 nationally for a small cup.

                                    Lets use $1.40 here.

                                    96 cups of coffee * $1.40 a cup = $134.40

Lets say your local coffee shop is 3 miles away.

                                    96 trips * 3 miles = 288 miles

Gas in South Bend averages $2.34 / gallon

If your car averages 28.8 miles to the gallon you save $23.40 in gas

                                    $23.40 (gas) + $134.40 (coffee) + x factor of your productivity time =$157.80 + x factor

                                    875 points = $157.80.

Good answer, but a deduction for fuzzy math. 50 meals eaten three times a day will last you 16 2/3 days/16+ days, not 18+.

I love this example as I was going to use it but there are some hitches.

Sales tax does exist for this purchase so add 6% to the $455.98

but more importantly Justin7 states in rule 4 that the item can only sell for 66% of face value.

But maybe you are on to something because he also states that if you provide retail evidence of the ebay prices he may see your side.

Yea true but i think the example is obsolete, i didn't do total research before posting this. When the 3Gs was first released it was going on ebay for about 800 bucks. now the median is more around 600 dollars so you may actually take a loss here. Unless the redeemer was a former ATT user with the service with a phone already in tact. Then he would not have to pay a termination fee to continue using the serivce on his previous phone. then the profit would be almost 200%

                                                  Let's start with 17182 points = 22 ebay gift cards (=1100$)

Buy this ebay item (12x100€ paysafecards)

                                                  for it.

As it's a "make an offer title" (with buy it now: 1162$), it can probably be bought for 1100$.

Now let's gather the family and friends (different IP/household/name) for a little bonus hunting (I know it's not a nice thing to do, especially with using SBR points, but this is a contest ), and let's open 12 Bet365 accounts.

Bet365 accepts paysafecard as deposit method, and offers a 100% first deposit bonus with relatively small rollover.

Let's start a "risk free betting" using all accounts, and in the end withdraw the money after completing the rollover - without a real bet and risk of course.

I assume it can be done with a -20% loss, so in the end:

                                                  12x200€=2400€-20%= 1920€ = cca 2800$ in the end

                                                  2800$-1100$=

net profit: 1700$ for 17182 points

Off the top of my head.

                                                    2) The person bets full Kelly.
                                                    3) The person hedges his bet with live betting.
                                                    4) The bet is on the first half, or the person trades out at a 50% profit.
                                                    5) Best odds will be verified by Justin.

Purchase price is in Euros (1200), not dollars. Honorable mention for trying to defraud a sportsbook to maximize SBR points... but we don't want that, so I can't award points.
