Blame that one on the coach for not making sure those kids understood not to even field the FG try.

Wow, how can the kid that spiked/fumbled that ball stay at all focused in his upcoming Western Civ classes??

You avoid that by having no one back. Should of been in a no linebacker prevent set with everyone playing for the fake and a final instruction to not touch the ball. I would have to check the rule but I am not sure you can advance a recovered touched ball after recovering. Obviously this guy did.

This is basically just an ordinary fumble, the defensive team could of ran it back for a TD just like on a punt return.

If the defender did not catch the kick in the air then I don't think they can advance it.

I really feel bad for the kid who spiked the ball. In the scheme of life it isn't a big deal, but he will never forget it.
