I misread the title and thought you wrote "BANDS" and not "brands". I was thinking Rush would have to be #1. Then.... well I couldn't think of anybody else. Bare Naked Ladies, I guess. Is it true that Canada has only produced 2 bands that anyone outside of Canada has ever heard of?

Well without further adieu, I present Canada's Top 10 Most Iconic Bands:

    1. Rush
    2. Bare Naked Ladies
    3-10. (NA)

See, I didn't know any of those guys/bands were Canadian....the sneaky fvcks.

I would say Neil Young is the only one of those that are truly iconic. Well.... OK I'll give them BTO. Soild band there. Few others were one hit wonders to be honest. And Nickleback is just plain bad music.

We pretend Loverboy was an American band.

Almost forgot Torontos own "Shuffle Demons"

A wild romp through the streets of Toronto with the Shuffle Demons rapping about their favourite form of public transit. Was a big hit on MuchMusic in Canada

Some of these I've never heard of - Blue Rodeo? We are talking about "iconic" here and you give me Blue Rodeo? Triumph? I remember Triumph. Not in a good way either.

I do want to amend my statement about 1 hit wonders. In the case of Steppenwolf they were a 2 hit wonder. I forgot they did "Born to be Wild" too. The Guess Who - all I'm coming up with is American Woman. Crash Test Dummies - that ridiculous song that I think was actually titled "Mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm". What assholes.

I think that was a list made by Canadians for Canadians. There's no way the Canada Post logo is the most iconic Canadian brand worldwide.

I liked Triumph back in the day (maybe the drugs made them sound better), used to go see them at Maple Leaf Gardens when they played here, NEVER missed a RUSH concert in Toronto.

I've seen Rush quite a few times. One of my favorite shows - great live band. Triumph was a little before my time, but my brother liked them. He also liked Styx and Rainbow though. In his defense, he was a big KISS fan too.... but who wasn't back then?

Once I came of age and started refining my own musical taste, I became much more interested in the punk invasion of the late 70's than the hair bands that were playing on some alternate musical landscape. I think bands like The Clash, The Replacements, The Ramones.... just to name 3 (I could go on all day with this subject) have stood the test of time and aged well. I'm not so sure about some of the other bands we've been talking about.

Funny stuff, only people in the Ottawa valley know who's logo that is, and the chances of them being around in a few years don't look so good, didn't you guys have a CFL team that quit a bunch of times?
