Thursday injury reports: Welker upgraded for Patriots
Posted: September 24th, 2009 | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Adrian Peterson, Andre Davis, Antonio Bryant, Cedric Benson, Chris Henry, Clint Session, Dwayne Bowe, E.J. Henderson, Gary Brackett, Jamal Lewis, Jason Brown, Jason Smith, Joey Porter, Justin Griffith, Kevin Walter, Leodis McKelvin, Lofa Tatupu, Matt Hasselbeck, Maurice Jones-Drew, Na'il Diggs, Terrence McGee, Week 3 injuries, Wes Welker

The official Thursday injury reports have been filed around the league, and here are some of the key injuries we’re following heading into Week 3 games:

Patriots WR Wes Welker (knee) was upgraded, taking part in a limited portion of practice after sitting out Wednesday’s session.
Vikings RB Adrian Peterson says his back is fine, and starting MLB E.J. Henderson (shoulder) returned from sitting out Wednesday to participate in a limited portion of practice. Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier said he believes Henderson will be fine.
The besieged Seahawks listed 13 players on their report, including three who sat out for the second consecutive day — RB Justin Griffith (knee), QB Matt Hasselbeck (rib) and LB Lofa Tatupu (hamstring). Coach Jim Mora said Griffith is most likely to play.
Browns RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring) sat out for a second consecutive day, meaning rookie RB James Davis could be in line for a start.
Looks like good news/bad news for the Rams’ offensive line as rookie RT Jason Smith (knee) missed his second consecutive day of practice, but starting C Jason Brown (knee) fully participated in practice after being limited Wednesday.
The Jaguars added RB Maurice Jones-Drew (knee) to their report, listing him as limited in practice.
No changes in Houston, where four offensive starters — G Mike Brisiel (shoulder), WR Andre Davis (concussion), RB Vonta Leach (knee) and WR Kevin Walter (hamstring) — were limited for the second consecutive day. Davis and Walter sat out in Week 2 as WR Jacoby Jones started.
The Dolphins added LB Joey Porter (hamstring) and G Justin Smiley (shoulder), both of whom were limited, to their report.
The Chiefs listed WR Dwayne Bowe (hamstring) as limited. He wasn’t listed Wednesday. Chiefs coach Todd Haley said he was “hopeful” that Bowe’s injury would clear up.
As the Bills prepare to face the Saints, starters CB Terrence McGee (ankle) and CB Leodis McKelvin (fibula) were limited for the second day in a row. “I would say that Leodis moved a little better than Terrence,” coach Dick Jauron said. “They both were involved to some degree.” Reggie Corner started in place of McKelvin last week, and Ashton Youboty would start for McGee.
Buccaneers WR Antonio Bryant (knee), who was limited Wednesday, sat out practice. Bryant followed a similar pattern last week and didn’t travel with the team. Added to the report was RB Cadillac Williams (knee), who was held out. Williams has no new injury, though, and is expected to practice Friday, according to the team’s official site.
Bengals RB Cedric Benson (ankle) and WR Chris Henry (quadricep) were upgraded, taking part in a limited portion of practice.
The Jets held out starting CB Lito Sheppard (quadricep) and nickel back Donald Strickland (ankle) for the second consecutive day. Jets coach Rex Ryan said he wasn’t ruling Strickland out yet, but didn’t expect him to play.
Three starters on the Lions’ defense — DT Grady Jackson (knee), CB Eric King (shoulder) and LB Ernie Sims (shoulder) — sat out for the second consecutive day.
The Panthers listed 12 players, including starters LB Na’il Diggs (rib) and RB Brad Hoover (back), on their injury report for their first practice of the week.
The Colts continue to battle injuries at linebacker, and while Gary Brackett (knee) sat out for the second consecutive day, Clint Session (ankle) returned to fully practice. If Brackett and Session are out Sunday night against the Cardinals, Phillip Wheeler likely will start, with Freddy Keiaho moving to the middle.
Four teams — the Chargers, 49ers, Broncos and Raiders — had yet to complete practice before the official injury reports were released.
