I heard they allow a $1000 a pop. I wonder what the juice spread is on these in-game offers.

I went to check it out last week. I asked the kids at the counter some questions and they seemed fairly clueless about the whole thing. They couldn't give me a brochure on how it works nor a schedule of upcoming games. I decided it wasn't going to be worth the hassle.

I would show up to check it out but Matchbook is pretty damn good. Do they have WI-Fi at the casino? I would love to be scalping at the casino in-game and MB live betting. Gotta believe the tourists at the casino are just going to take the fav no matter what the score is.

That would be a felony, Chuck.

                Yeah.

You can't transmit any wagering data or place wagers via a "communications device" from a Vegas sportsbook.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll avoid the felony and stay home.

Are you sure? I thought internet betting in Las Vegas was just a misdemeanor.

You know anyone who has tried the M system? For all the money they put into it, they don't seem to be promoting it much.

I talked to one of the ticket writers and he said the place was packed with people betting the live in-running game. I am hoping someone here has played it, so we can get an idea if its worth playing as opposed to off-shore in-game. The M has to be careful because if someone is talking to a friend at the game on his cell, he's got a 5-8 second look into the future. Cell phones are now legal in the Vegas sportsbooks. Someone will no doubt try it.

It is in Las Vegas or Nevada for that matter, but it is a felony if it's done from a sportsbook.

Not really, Josh. I would love to go there with my laptop and try it myself, but the M is one of my biggest outs. I really don't want to draw too much attention. I really don't know how keen they would be on a live action model running in front of them.

There are a bunch of places here that are doing live betting now, even Emeril Lagasse's new sports bar at the Palazzo has live betting. I'm not sure if they are all using the same system, however. It's something I've been meaning to check out, but just haven't had the time yet. I'll let you know when I get more information on it.

Are you guys talking about live betting like in football where you bet if its a hand off or pass and stuff? And then you can get different odds on one side as the game progresses?

I've heard someone is doing just that.

That's the Cantor live betting. Same as at M.

And FWIW, I think their model is the sharpest available.

interesting, I was under the impression it was just a misdemeanor also. can you cite precedent?

It's not tightly enforced any more. They aren't checking people using their cell phones, but if someone is sitting there everyday with their laptop, it could be an issue.
