I have not placed a bet on anything in over two weeks.
Don't know what has gotten into me and I'm sure I'll relapse into it shortly but I am an avid recreational player of all things, horses, poker, slots, sports. I just haven't made a single bet or wager in what feels like ages. Other than a few random spans over the last 5-7 years of my life this has not happened.

The sad thing is I always thought that not gambling would lead to me having more money to spend and keep somewhat bankrolled with college spending and living in the city but fukk it I'm no richer or poorer had I been losing chunks on gambling.

Moral of the story here is, and I suppose a question to those on the board.

Do many of you only gamble when you have nothing else to fill the void or are not happy with yourself?

Being in Philly at school, keeping busy with new people, old friends, family and class work has really filled a void that I believe I had stuffed with gambling. I was unemployed for the last year or so and the only thing that kept me going some days was waiting for the games to start or going to the track, just the substance of it I suppose.

While this is all a bit unorganized I just wanted to put this out there and see how anyone else felt about it or the issue.

I gamble for fun/ try to make a game more interesting while attempting to make a extra buck. I have a great social life, never home on weekends unless i have a party at my apt. Some of these guys do it for nothing else and pure bordum. Once u find something to live for gambling is just a hobby. For some people its their life

ps. I spent all the league money on booz, im stiffing yah pal!

Great thread Ryno. I have not placed a real money wager in months. I have a nice Florida Marlins future wager landing in my account once the regular season is over and I will cash that out immediately. I also have a New York Yankees World Series wager pending. If that pops, I will cash out the winnings immediately also. If it doesn't hit, oh well. I have only been wagering SBR points recently and I get the same rush out of this as I do if I were betting real money. I highly doubt I will ever wager real money again. It's amazing how much happier I am that I have quit betting!

I am by no means retired from betting money but I've noticed that since I have a lot of classes at night and some on the weekend that I am just too exhausted to sweat out a game or worry about chasing closing numbers or watching line movement. But for now SBR points do keep me very entertained also.

Thanks Timer! I can actually go out to eat, go to a bar, go shopping, go to a movie, go to a party, etc. without having to check my phone for scores every 5 minutes. It's great!

If there is one thing I really enjoy about not gambling as much or any is that I can keep my phone in my pocket for more than 5 minutes like you said SS. I would be reloading all the scores so constantly that felt like more of an addiction than betting.
