    Western Union
    Quick Question-

What is the $ cutoff point where Western Union agents ask for ID. I heard at $1000 but wanted to check with the knowledgeable individuals on this board for affirmation.

    Thanks

Their discretion. They have the nerve to choose exactly how they react so flip a coin and good luck.

$900 for Money Gram, so around there... However, showing your ID should not be an issue for you, unless you don't have one...

I'm fairly sure it's a little lower than this. If I remember correctly, the Moneygram merchant manual states $850 requires ID.

I agree with The General when he says that is up to their decission (actually the clerk's), and I also agree with DukeJohn in that having to show them your ID is not a problem unless you send money through them like if there was no tomorrow.

Yes, most of books apparently will only be requesting an ID if you requested a huge amount..

Do they ask for SS number when you receive $1000?
Does it make a difference to make the withdrawal amount $980 instead of $1000?

Nearly all sports books will not allow one withdrawal via ** or ** over $1000. They will break up the withdrawals over $1000 into more than one ** or ** payment.

On sending cash? yes, once you get high enough... I remember making around a $2500 deposit once and they wanted my SS#, however the person didn't really know what she was doing and she filled out a separate form for it. Later, I was told she had done it incorrectly and she didn't need to bother because amount needed was higher for that information, like $3K I believe...

There is a local place here that asks for your social security number every time when you make a deposit and they wanted me show it for a withdraw of like a thousand... I didn't have it on me of course so I went to another location and got the money without it... Seems rather discretionary for what they will and won't ask for and probably depends alot on what clerk you get or how strictly the place enforces ** and store policies...

I don't mind showing my id but not a big fan of giving my social security number to some eighteen year old high school kid making eight dollars an hour at a grocery store...

the places i used only ask for i.d. if you are sending or receiving over 1000, but i wouldn't send 999 at the same place several days in a row, i think that would cause more problems than a one time 3k or4k

We have never encountered an issue Hedge. It is safe and secure aswell, I do understand there is a max limit though of $500.

TM, I believe theres also a cap on ** upto $500.

Also make sure your book allows you to take ** or ** online deposits, some will not allow it and getting it back is a pain.
