they went up by 4, if they kick the PAT then they are up 5, being up 4 or 5 is the same thing basically, you are still safe against a FG but a TD (6 pts) beats you without a PAT by the other team necessary.......if you go for 2 when up 4 and make it then at least you are up 6, so if the other team scores they tie you BUT YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO BLOCK THE PAT or they might miss it, it happens sometimes, so at least you give yourself a fukking chance that way

what if CHI would have returned the kick off for a TD.. now they are down 3 instead of down 2.. a FG now wins it.. but instead, they need a TD again or a FG to put into OT instead of a win.

not saying it was dumb, but not every coach would have played it that way.

I had this argument with a friend yesterday. He said it made no sense, I said it made tons of sense, more sense then most coaches in the NFL make. I explained how if your up 4 or 5 it is no difference but if you go up by 6 you get a shot at a blocked or missed PAT. I know the blocked or missed PAT is very, very unlikely but why not give yourself the chance?

There is an argument to be made either way. To state that it's a black-and-white decision and someone on either side is a moron is the only weak point-of-view I see.

I find the scenario Nicky outlined to be much more compelling than something that hinges on a blocked PAT. GB should gave gone for the single to be up 5.

If you kick the XP your up 5, they return a kick and there going to go for two, your either going to be down 1 or 3 depending on the conversion. In any of these scenarios you can't be down more then 3, but this is the only scenario where you have to MAKE THEM MAKE THE PAT for the lead.

wrong, it applies to the entire 4th quarter, pro or college. for the same reasoning that another poster listed above.
