Federer isn't much different from all great athletes who eventually get surpassed by the next generation ... difficult to see your future invading your present. Think about his year, Rafa beats him at the Australian in the semis. He wins his first French Open. Gets pushed to the limit by Roddick to win Wimbledon and then blows a set lead to 20-year old Del Potro who was playing in his first major final. Very topsy-turvy and I think he knows now more than ever that there isn't just one (Nadal) nemesis, there are several. Guy still has a couple major titles left in him, Wimbledon would be the best guess as to the one he will still win a few more times, but the Australian and the U.S. are going to be very competitive and that is great for the sport. Fantastic player, best ever in the sport, no big deal for me to see him tear up losing opportunities like this - shows the passion is there.

EP ... that really is a scary avatar.
Federer had his time ... he will be one of the best no doubt, but you can just be at that level for so long.

Fed is in trouble now because the top 5 guys are all his equal
He just got by all of them this year
He definitely choked in Monday and there was no pressure on him as he had record.

soderling is the ultimate choker, remember a match 3 years ago or so where he blew 14 match points
