I'm looking at Florida's schedule this year, and really don't play any difficult teams. Makes me wonder who makes up these schedules? Is the schedule just given to them, or do they bid for certain teams, or what? Because I know d1-aa teams are payed to go get slaughtered by d1-a teams, are the rest of the games just in their conference?

#3Scheduled a few years in advance. Small schools looking to move up and get reputation by playing the big ranked schools.Comment -

#4With the BCS taking out strength of schedule, there's no need for them to schedule anyone difficult. Florida has picked up on this while other schools haven't. So I can't really blame them. Their OOC schedule is always a joke and they'll NEVER play anyone outside of Florida out of conference.

#5There is big money to be made for the smaller schools to play the larger ones. I personally hate seeing it but the NCAA keeps rejecting my complaints.
On a side note though.....................I know we have this discussion eeeeeeeeeeeeeevery year but once you get into conference play it's hardly an easy schedule. Just because a team is loaded with talent and seemingly dominate there are still teams on that schedule that can play physical enough to wear a even the most talented teams down.Comment -

#6Florida refuses to do home and home with anyone so it only leaves small schools for the 3 non conference games outside the FSU game.Comment -

#7Smaller schools get mid to high 6 figures and some very low 7 figures. Looks like Florida scheduled a two week pre-season this year!Comment -

#9You guys need to get a fukking clue before you post. UF is in a unique position with an ongoing game with FSU and the annual game in Jax versus Georgia. It's all about the money and UF is not going to give up another home game. Until the UGA game goes home and home or we get rid of FSU on the schedule it's not going to happen.
Last year we played FSU, Criami and Hawaii (who was coming off a BCS bowl). This year USF was supposed to be our opponent instead of Charleston Southern but they backed out at the last minute which put us in a bind. At the end of the day, our schedule will still be a top 10 schedule compared to other teams, especially when you add in the SECCG if we're that lucky to make it.
We've won 3 National championships and in 2 of them we had the #1 strength of schedule. Last year we were ranked #2 in SOS. We don't cake walk into nothing in this league. Why do you think we've never had an undefeated season. It's pretty hard to do in the SEC.Comment -

#10the #1 strength of schedule is helped by the SECCG. The UGA game rotates as a home and away game every year. There's plenty of room to play other teams. Georgia manages to do it with Tech. I didn't realize USF backed out this year...UF is trying harder than I give them credit for.Comment
