Easy to pile on Franklin given his reputation but having watched the game with an objective eye, this was not a Franklin problem. This was 100% a Drew Allar problem. Guy makes poor decision after poor decision. Maybe a lack of talent at WR has something to do with it, but the the kid is clueless with the ball in his hand.

I’m still not believing this stat…. Penn State Receivers:
Zero receptions
Zero yards
Zero TDs

ND averaged 2.9 ypc and was -2 in turnovers and still won.

Allar is so bad he was given a reprieve by the officials not once, but twice, and still managed to blow the game.

Even in the first half when PSU was dominating he missed several throws that would've been big plays, one of 'em a TD to the RB.

Putting your QB, who looked awful all night, in a passing situation back in his own end instead of just handing off and looking to break one to FG position (worse case go to OT), was bad play calling. Yeah it is easy to pile on Franklin when he continues to shit the bed in big games.

Oh please... handing the ball off and looking to break one? That's what they did to start the drive. You can gain yardage sure, but you can't eschew the pass. You realize you have under a minute left to position yourself for a game winner, correct? You're not just going to run, run, run down the field. That's what's called "playing to lose."

You're given an opportunity and any coach worth their salt would seize it, not sit on it. Allar was bad, but unless you plan on giving him the hook, he's your trigger-man and you sink or swim with him. Calling a pass play was NOT the problem, Allar's execution was.

You outright stated Allar was bad all night, yet wanna turn to a guy in khakis standing on the sidelines for why they lost. I get it, Franklin has a bad record against top flight competition, but are you gonna let that cloud your judgement and suspend common sense? Franklin can't throw the ball for Allar. At some point, your players have to make plays.
