Bettor backs Eagles with $3.1 million wager to beat Panthers
A bettor in Kentucky is backing the Philadelphia Eagles to defeat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday with a $3.1 million wager, one of the largest bets ever reported on an NFL regular-season game.

A bettor in Kentucky is backing the Philadelphia Eagles to defeat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday with a $3.1 million wager, one of the largest bets ever reported on an NFL regular-season game.

Circa Sports took the wager on the Eagles money line Thursday afternoon at -700 odds, which would net approximately $442,800. In response, the sportsbook moved its line on Philadelphia to -870 and lengthened Carolina to +650 as of Friday morning. Other sportsbooks have Philly as long as -675, with the Birds giving around 13 points to the Panthers on the spread marketwide.

Circa Sports owner Derek Stevens told ESPN that the bettor first placed $1 million on the Eagles, then asked to bet more, ending up with the $3.1 million on Philadelphia. It's the largest bet the sportsbook has ever taken, Stevens said. "I told my guys in the risk room to go to work and get some buyback on the Panthers," Stevens said Friday. "With us being in five states now, we should have the liquidity to get enough buyback to where we end up needing the Eagles."

"We currently have the best Panthers [money-line] price on the board and will be big Bryce Young fans on Sunday," Circa sportsbook director Jeff Benson told ESPN by email.

Spot-wise, it's not a great week for the Eagles at all... coming off the prime-time Thursday nighter against the division co-leader at the time, Redskins, followed by another prime-time SNF tilt against the Rams, and then this past week had the big game of the week against Lamar and the Ravens. Plus they have the up and coming Steelers on deck. It's a super sleepy spot for Philly.

They just gotta pound the football. Panthers don't have the team to keep up with Philly. Philly can play at 80% and still win by 10. It might be close, but come crunch time Philly should turn it on and put it away. Panthers probably realistically have less than a 10% shot at winning.

        Dougy Tushy Terror?

This type of bet generates opposite views:
        1) How can someone lay -700 in an NFL game?
        2) Put me in the camp of it being a GOOD BET. Eagles coming into form:
...Barkley running well behind the Off Line.
...The young DBs are providing tight coverage.
...The recent Panther success makes this line REASONABLE.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

You've got pocket Aces, and your opponent has KQo, and you both flip your cards over and he goes all in for 442k, you have 3.1 million but the guy to act behind you has you covered. You shoving or folding?

The player behind you acts like the rare time they call and you lose your whole stack going for the easy 442k win. In betting, that rare event is like the fluke that causes your -700 favorite to lose—you’re a huge favorite, but the risk of losing it all is still there.

That's the best I can do to answer 2)

Cash game. You've been there all day so if you bink the guy for 442k you don't feel bad about cashing out and going to the strip club after. Hell, you're already thinking about inviting him and splurging 5k of his 442k back to him, since you're a nice guy.

Circa guys/VSiN are mostly shills. I have tried to explain to some folks that won't listen.....the backdrop of their programs is a gigantic sportsbook. It would be VERY BAD for their livelihood if they were helping their players win. I am a big fan of Mitch and Paul but I can even smell them giving out BS sometimes. The Shill Alexander guy in the morning is a total shill. He had Steve Fezzik on give out the Dolphins for Thxgiving, Steve gave his customers Packers ATS. The classic Steve Stevens tout scam.

One simple thing us peons need to remember is relativity. One man's thousands is another's millions.

A million used to be a lot of money back in my day, now chump change.

Fun game. Eagles continue to intentionally suck during opening quarter. This was a lucky cover for Carolina, but we need to remember: Carolina played balls out while Philadelphia maybe at 70% of what they're capable of.

Speaking of Doug, I haven't seen him post lately since 12/02/2024.

I am a big fan of Mitch and Paul but I can even smell them giving out BS sometimes. The Shill Alexander guy in the morning is a total shill.
