...Just think this fair line should be closer to pk.
...Australia has had an impressive run on prep games. So, price inflating.
...Spain doesn't have the big names they used to. But they're solid. The qualifying win came against a Bahamas team that featured three NBA players.

I'm on record as saying that this Team USA roster is flawed. How many guys are on this team based on Name?

You can categorize many of these guys into some combination of Too Old, Injury-Prone, and/or Hi-Usage.

Also, who are the good defensive players on this team? White/Holiday, and that might be it. Embiid, if he's healthy.

I took Germany +15.5 so I'm with ya. In the Big time I think the USA will be fine. Tho I will be looking after Rd robin to get some value.

Buff, my view on handicapping is different than most. It's very much an inexact science.

All we can do is prepare and feel good about our tickets as we head toward tip (or kickoff). For the L2 years I've said that the Western teams with Curry/Lebron/Durant are way over-hyped. It ties to the media machine.

You just never know. To quote Chris Berman: "That's why they play the games."

USA, 52-50. Two-point game.

The So Sudan game had to be an eye-opener:
1) So Sudan has some legit talent. Five guys on that roster w/ NBA experience or prospect of NBA play in their future.
2) How can a 44-pt Fav look so bad? Perimeter defense (in particular) is bad.

Not that it means they'll win...but I look to be getting some BTCL value as we head toward tip-off on Round One. Some random thoughts:

1) Australia has had a good lead-up. I'm a little surprised that Mills is playing so much...and that Exum isn't.
2) GERM line went up. I know that Japan has Hachimura. But I'll take the German front-line, we'll see.
3) Serb dog price went down after USA looked so-so in lead-up games. You never know.

The France/Brazil # cratered. France has really struggled. One truth (imho) = Wemby being more of a boxscore guy than a polished +/- player.

I'm looking already on Serbia tomorrow. Besides they will give USA problems already. Enbiid and Davis are sick. They must be having to many Royale with cheese over there. Durant did look good in practice video. Still taking the points in this one.

Greatest threat to USA is their own arrogance. Wouldn't be surprised if they lose tomorrow. Serbs might be the #2 team in the world with their big 3 (Jokic/ Bogdan/ Micic) available and the legendary coach Pesic on the sidelines.

A few thoughts on the GRE-CAN match:

*GRE: was a little fortunate (imho) to qualify thru Croatia. Pagagianis had an amazing 3-pt shooting game (hitting 6 3s).
...Zubac was challenging Giannis A to shoot from outside. I question whether Giannis is 100% back. He might be playing just to participate in the Olympics.

*CAN has 10 NBA players on the roster. They're (arguably) viewed as the primary threat to USA for Gold.
...I would think about CAN in this game. The Giannis factor might be too heavy in the Greece price.
...Biggest drawback for me = Barrett. Knicks got better after they got rid of Barrett.

One note for anyone thinking about Serbia:

Miami Heat's Nikola Jovic Playing In Olympics For Serbia After Offseason Foot Injury. After missing the start of Serbia's Olympic training camp, with an ankle injury, Nikola Jovic is back. He played against Greece.

...Looked like Jovic was going to miss the Olympics. He surprisingly came back and played. Without Jovic back, Serbia roster looks pretty strong.

If he was declared fit to play by the Bucks doctors 25 days ago then he damn well should be fit to play now.

Barrett a bit player for Canada. Probably not a starter.

...This play is really a response to the eye-popping score in the USA/SoSud friendly.
...I'll take PR at a Dog price. South Sudan is a relatively new nation, and they'll be trying to win on World stage.
...I'm not 100% sold on Puerto Rico. They did beat Italy/Lithuania in qualifying and have NewOrl G Alvarado.

Those Olympic opening ceremonies were extremely fruity and flaming in France. I guess that was to be expected in Paris. Wow.. That was a bit disturbing seeing that as a straight Christian man myself..

I watched most of it.

There was maybe 1 or 2 mins max of any gender weirdness stuff in over 4.5 hours of ceremony.

It was too long and boring in parts but would not have bothered any normal straight christian man if they watched the whole thing.

I think they are all kind of buddy buddy personally in reality.

I did see the old interview about not wanting to hear the star spangled banner or hear cowbells I think you are referring to though. I'd use it to fire up the team if I was USA too.

Our womens swim team probably the best we have ever had at an olympics.
