Is the movie "Two for the Money" realistic?
Are there really people betting their life savings or millions of dollars a week on picks made by touts like Brandon Lang?

Excuse my ignorance but I've never blindly followed anyone on any picks. My picks are mine, I can't imagine following a tout but that's me.

Another question: How in the world is what they're doing in that movie legal? They were selling picks in New York City where sports betting is illegal.

he never told me the sums they are playing on his selections, but he did tell me he had tiers of selections for the bigger players (ones willing to pay more for his TOP picks)

they dont know how much they are betting, the biz model is not like that

so the movie in that respect is not realistic, if the movie was based on reality it would be too boring for laymen

fearless, all he's doing is predicting the results of sporting events with respect to lines in exchange for a free. Nothing illegal about it. If you choose to gamble with that information that is your call.

Along with overly large size for dramatic effect, the most unrealistic thing in the movie, of course, is the concept that anyone is that good at capping, tout or no tout.

What about the Robert Deniro character in "Casino", wasn't that supposed to be based on a real guy? For some reason I found that totally believable, you?

                        From wiki
Frank Lawrence "Lefty" Rosenthal (June 12, 1929 – October 13, 2008) was an American sports handicapper and a former Las Vegas casino executive. He also hosted a television talk show in Las Vegas during the late 1970s.
The 1995 Martin Scorsese film Casino, based on the book by Nicholas Pileggi, was inspired by Rosenthal's career in Las Vegas. Rosenthal (re-named "Sam 'Ace' Rothstein") was played by Robert De Niro, and his Mafia associate Anthony Spilotro (re-named "Nicky Santoro") was played by Joe Pesci.[1] Rosenthal's story was featured on The History Channel's, "True Crime Authors," as well.

Lefty Rosenthal was supposedly such a good capper because he had access to inside info from almost everywhere. He knew injuries other people didn't know. He knew when fixes were in, etc. At least that's the story.

Let's ask Anthony Spilatro...aka Tony the Ant....aka Nicky Santoro....about Lefty. Wonder if he has any insights. Nicky doesn't believe in handicapping. I wonder what he thinks of Lefty's supposed prowess in the field.

movie seems to be for entertainment value, although there are people who wager large amounts

Happens all the time in the same way. Even guys watching that movie will still rely on touts for thousands of dollars a clip as they risk it all away.

Yeah..... lots of people have pissed on Lang's fat face.

He enjoys the golden shower action.

movie has realistic parts about it, but it's not one of my favorites.
