Eight teenage fans of the video game Slayers planned to commit suicide together last month - but most backed out after watching two of them leap to their deaths, The New Paper in Singapore reported.
A police investigation showed 16-year-old Ku Witaya, a self- proclaimed Taoist medium, convinced his younger brother and six other boys they had to die to become "slayers" who would kill demons in a World War III.

The boys planned to jump off the roof of Witaya's apartment building together, but an access door was locked.

Seven of the group went to Witaya's bedroom, where Witaya and Sia Chan Hong, 16, leapt out of a ninth-floor window. The others decided not to jump.
