OT - Suicide

I've dealt with death a lot in my life. People close to me have been murdered, killed in accidents, died due to illness but I've never known anyone personally who has taken their own life....until today.

Got a call this morning from my friend. Was told that our college buddy took his own life. I know I have had tough times in life when I actually thought about it but could never imagine actually doing it.

This had nothing to do with gambling at all. Just a person who was having a hard time with life recently. I've dealt with death plenty but am having a hard time dealng with this.

Suicide is the way to go if your life sucks. Everyone seems to be in tough times nowadays because of recession.

My heart go's out to his friends and famil, I lost a friend in early 08 to suicide as well, a very sad situation for anyone even with the slightest involvement. Just be there for his family if u are close to them and even though it is a wound that will never heal, if you can keep even the slightest amount of anymore pain from reaching his close friends or family do it. I am sorry for your loss..

My condolences. I had an ex girlfriend commit suicide about 7 yrs. ago. This was long after we had parted ways and I got the news from a mutual friend quite some time later. It is a surreal experience, making you question the vulnerability of life that we neglect to think about. Sorry to hear that.

Sorry to hear that man.My cousin hung her self about 6 years ago.She needed cash and went to her mom for help and she told her your on your own kid.Then she killed herself.

I would suggest that deaths that are harder to understand are harder to deal with. You wrote that you could never imagine taking your own life, so maybe that's what's making it so hard.

It'll take some time, but I'd lay -10000 odds that you come to terms with it and are able to move on. Best of luck, and very sorry for your loss.

yeah i have to wonder if she does because she hasnt been a good mom to her other kids either.Has to be my worst aunty i just hope my other cousins dont do the same thing as they have had it just as tough.

sorry for the bad news cash, i've never lost anyone Very close to me from suicide, but seem to know an inordinate amount of aquaintances who ended their lives and even hearing that is a shock, and knocks the wind out of you.... just a shocking thing, with no bright side to it.

life is precious, fleeting, and short and all the other platitudes.... we gotta live it and enjoy it
