    Best Backdoor Bet
The most infuriating event in betting is the backdoor cover, i.e. when you take Florida -39 vs Tenn-Chat and are winning in the 4th 52-0 only two give up two garbage TDs and NOT cover the spread. While we all have been burnt by this numerous times over, I would like to ask you all what was your most favorable backdoor cover? Mine is quite easy. Last year when Indy was 12-0 they played at Jax and were -8.5 (-130). I laid $500 on Jax at even juice and watched as Indy was up 26-3 with 3:30 left. Then out of nowhere Jax drove the length of the field, scored, kicked the XP, kicked an onside kick, recovered that, had a few 4th an 10s on the ensuing drive, finally scored, and scored on a 2pt conversion to make it 26-18. I had no buisness winning that game and ended up winning $500 by a half of a point. I want to know, whats your fave or most crushing backdoor cover?

      arto,

That same game is right up there with my biggest gifts ever too. If I recall, didn't Gerard basically get in uncontested on a QB Draw for the 2-point conversion? Seems like someone inside the Indy brass had Jax heavy.

Other than that, there was an NBA game where I forget who my team was, but they were +6.5 at Miami in a Friday night ESPN game. The Heat led by double-digits most of the game, and they were up 20 with around 6:00 left. Then my team incredibly cuts the lead to 6, and fouls Shaq with like 3 seconds left. Naturally Shaq bricks both free throws when just one would have beaten me, and my team misses a desperation heave to lose by 6.

        LT,

Youre exactly right. Garrard scored on a 5 WR set where he basically ran a draw up the middle not even being close to being touched. I remember my heart was racing, knowing it was all coming down to that 2pt conversion, and he scored with utter ease. Not that I minded.....

also there was a hoston-lakers game at laker with houston -3. i think hoston was up by 1 and kobe has the ball with no time outs and very little time on the clock. kobe did something weird and the ref called travelling. houston got the ball back and covered.

UConn vs Duke in the 2004 final four. duhon hit a three as time was expiring. Uconn won by 1, the line was uconn -1.5. I rembering be thankful I took UConn on the ML and not laying points.

That game sent me on a big time downward spiral for many months; by far, my worst loss ever.
