    mp4 splitting help
I have a 2.5 hour mp4 file of the WM-MU game from last weekend. I'll also have the Nev-ND game, likely to be a couple hours.

The first was 3.5 gigs. This was more than Pinnacle Studio could handle.

Is there an easy (free) way to split these into smaller files?

      Gracis.

And what's the best (free) way to convert a .mkv file into something I can work with, like mp4?

If all you're going to do is extract small clips out of that .mkv, you can use VirtualDubMod (free) and work on the .mkv directly. Assuming you have all the proper codecs installed, you'll be able to save your clip as whichever format you want.

VirtualDubMod is based on VirtualDub by Avery Lee. Born as a unification of several modifications, new features have been added including support…

Bah. It splits it, but the split files can't be read anymore.

I dont no if music files are completely different but with songs you set a start and stop point and you convert it to a AAC version(copy) of the original file given the time span that you chose, i wud do this to split huge music files such as a cd that downloaded as 1 track

I bucked up and bought some software.

It takes FOREVER to break down a 3-gig game file!

                          mkv2vob takes about 15 mins.

I've e-mailed you this site before Justin, but these guys at Blue-Gray Sky do a lot of breaking down of film of the ND games.
