80k miles on United or it's partner airlines (Star Alliance) will get you a flight from the US to anywhere in the world IIRC. Used to be 60k.

Yeah it seems like the markup has happened everywhere for using miles. I have a ton on American and never seem to have enough for a flight on the days I need to book.
