The Seymour trade may or may not move the line, but if it does it will almost certainly be against the Raiders.

He gets every down humanly possible. He's been a beast no matter where the Pats have used him on the line, and the Raiders have a PATHETIC D-line. Unless extremely fatigued or injured, Seymour will be in on every play.

I understand that, but I mean you think he will be ready in time for the Raiders defensive scheme?

Honestly, the Raiders are such a complete cluster fvck on the D-Line that Seymour having no idea what our playbook is whatsoever will still perform better than some of the guys we were going in with as starters. I expect him to play regularly despite not being assimilated to the playbook.

To free up money to sign Vince Wilfork. They have depth on the line, and they probably weren't going to be able to afford Seymour when he hit free agency at the end of 2010 anyway. They are taking a (smart) gamble that one of the worst franchises in pro sports will continue to be so, and they will score a top 5 pick in 2011. Seymour is also on the wrong side of his prime, and the Patriots are always looking at the big picture. The trade made a lot of sense for both teams; my concern is, if Seymour doesn't re-sign (seems very likely), we enter 2011 without him AND our 1st rounder.

It's just an IF. I'm sure most will be on the Chargers, in which case they can use this info too and wait for a hopeful line change in their favor.

The Raiders are awful, there is turmoil in that organization and I don't think Seymour makes a difference for them

I would not be able to back this team at all
