I'm curious as to how many of you are professional gamblers and how many have jobs and gamble apart from your career. I've already mentioned that I'm a small-time rec bettor, so for me this is just for fun.

FYI, I'm a cop in Ohio, where there is no law against offshore wagering. I hope me admitting that didn't suck the air out of the room. That tends to happen at parties and such.

I work at a sportsbook in Costa Rica... Use to gamble full time a couple of years ago, I was really good at it, I used to consider myself a wise after I got several accounts shut down. Than I started loosing and I couldn't handle it so I lost pretty much all the money I made and started working again. Since than I don't even watch most of the games anymore.

I am a teacher...working on becoming a pro gambler if all goes well.

I have a question. Are there certain days in which it is better to speed. Like if it is raining is a cop really going to ever pull you over?

And when I travel does it matter if I go like 5 mph over? Do cops actually give tickets for that little over the speed limit?

I go over the limit by 10MPH. So if I get a dick cop that pulls me over, I only get 1 point on my record, and that dont hurt the insurance.

Well, I'm unemployed, thus my name, Slacker00. I'm probably one of the smartest, best educated, most ambitious slacker you'll ever meet. I've got a degree in math, have worked as an engineer, but never enjoyed the corporate grind.

I am stupidly attracted by gambling because of the mathematics of it. I've always loved NFL football since I was a kid, collecting football cards, so I started looking at betting NFL games, for fun, this year.

That is true. Cops don't like getting wet any more than other people do. Plus, the rain cuts down on the range of radar (not sure if that applies to laser radar too as I have no experience with that). Still, there are gung-ho guys whose desire to write tickets overrides their dislike of getting wet, so it's not foolproof. These are the types who would bet on longshots

And when I travel does it matter if I go like 5 mph over? Do cops actually give tickets for that little over the speed limit?
Around here the rule is that you have to be doing 10mph over the limit to get pulled over. That's pretty standard everywhere. There are some who may pull you over for 5-9mph over for various reasons, such as they think you are drunk, under suspension, a drug mule, etc. As a rule it's 10mph and above for speeding. Oh, if I know you were someone who argued with me in some Internet forum I'll pull you over for anything

                            Ha! Just kidding.

Limo dispatcher full-time, web designer part-time.

We can go 20 KM/H + without getting a ticket here. Once you hit 30 KM/h over the limit, you're fair game. A cop once stopped me when it was raining. When he completed the ticket, he called me through his speakerphone so I would go get it. Yeah right! lol, I just raised the volume on the radio.

Many years ago, when I was young, my family went on vacation in Cananda (or "on holiday", if you will). Part of our trip was through Quebec, and Dad got pulled over for speeding. He got a ticket and promptly proclaimed it a "speed trap". Two days later we were home and he refused to pay the fine. He got mail from the authorities in Quebec once a year, demanding payment for the ticket. He never did pay and used to joke about being wanted in Quebec. I suppose it ruined any chance he had of being an Ambassador to Canada

And one thing I always heard was not to speed there...they said the cops were really really harsh. I guess Ohio cops have a reputation for handing out speeding tickets???

AK, I believe there are five states in the U.S. that have declared offshore betting illegal (or Internet betting...not sure which). Personally, as a libertarian, I think that's crap and infringing on libertires

Can't avoid what the legislators make into law though. And you know it comes down to a real or perceived loss of money for them, else they probably wouldn't care.

It's probably more that we consider you Michigan drivers to be reckless speed freaks. Just kidding (although Michigan drivers do have a reputation as fast drivers by us). Some spots are speed traps, plain and simple. The Ohio State Patrol are all business (consider them the USMC of law enforcement) and their superiors expect a certain amount of activity from them. Other places are speed traps because they have come to rely on, or drool over, the money that comes from traffic enforcement. There are limits on fines in Ohio, but some courts may fine less than others. Speed trap courts, especially if they use a Mayor's court, tend to fine the maximum. And I know of one town very near Cedar Point that does mostly traffic enforcement. BTW, Cedar Point announced that they are lowering admission next year, so come and spend your money in Ohio Buddy

Yeah, I'm an odd duck. I'm one of the most conservative people you could meet, but at the same time I have libertarian political views. To add further convolution to the mix, I do not oppose the legalization of marijuana, believe in spanking my kids, have major issues with the Patriot Act and voted for the Constitution Party's candidate in the last election.
