Why dont the Marines compete in athletics?

I no nothing about college football , do the army navy and air force teams actually all of their players are in there respective branches of the military? i thought those were just team names....

I don't think there is a marine academy/college school.

The Marine Corps is simply an organizational component of the Department of the Navy. Their officers are educated at the Naval Academy, their members are transported on Naval vessels, and their court-martials are just as likely to be heard by a Naval officer as a Marine officer. So since they have no academy of their own, they really have no way to field sports teams. The players on Navy teams are both Naval Midshipmen and Marine Privates, so they're represented nonetheless.

but ya gotta give it to the army/navy for being competitive. its not like they go out recruiting 5 start athletes

I believe everyone has to compete in a sport, maybe even if it is just club level at the naval academy

In the past, the Quantico Marines had football teams that competed with college teams - sometimes major college teams.
