128-Man Bracket Tournament OUTSTANDING BETS - ALL BETS VOIDED
Bill Dozer himself restored all the points I had and he has given me 100 points more. I appreciate that immensely.
The bets stand, I'll do a new update after today's games.

Fearless,
I see no deductions on your points log history, I will pass this along though but I'd ask for your patience, from what I can see no debits were made from your account.

What management does to you should have nothing to do with the agreed upon points. I feel bad for you and realize you feel you may have did nothing wrong, however I believe you need to honor the points that were risked and agreed to days ago.

I thought the points system would be fair. That was a wrong assumption on my part. I'm not gonna worry about points or these bets anymore. We can't have the bets without points and now we know management can take the points on any whim without a poster breaking a rule.
I thought the points were serious business but they're just a silly game. I can't continue to have any part of that silly game. Life's too short. I apologize to my customers.

Others know how many points I had because they thought I was gonna owe them points. There's witnesses here, I was stripped of my points for no reason.
No silly games for me thanks.

If management is going to use the point system to fine people then the whole point system is just another way to control and train people. Do something we like, we give you points. Do something we don't like, we'll take your points away with or without explanation, whether or not you actually broke a rule.
It will create an environment where everyone is afraid to speak their minds for fear of having their points taken away. It'll be a little fascist prison where the mods crucify a few posters every now and then to scare everyone into compliance. Nice little nightmare.

Fearless,
read the 2nd to last section titled "What about contests at SBR?"
SBR offers a great variety of handicapping contests for its members to have fun, challenge each other and win prizes. Posters are also free to engage in their own ‘head-to-head’ contests or track records of their fellow handicappers. However, SBR cannot and will not organize, oversee nor mediate any of the unofficial contests and challenges. Furthermore, all monetary and/or prize arrangements between posters should be kept separate from the message board. This includes the use of private messages for said arrangements and discussion. There are several betting exchanges available that would be safe and efficient for these types of contests. SBR reserves the right to limit or prohibit restricted posting accounts from participating in forum-hosted contests.
No matter what it's good to get the poppycock out of the way early and learn from it.

What does that have to do with this situation?

How doesn't it apply? You not only were booking bets on the forum, you also were involved with PMs

This is exactly what the rule says you can't do. Rake is reading this correctly.

You're assuming that I was fined for that reason. Management won't even admit that I was fined.
I was fined without breaking a rule and without explanation. If you're fine with that you can keeping using your dumb points, I'll ignore them and keep the grief away from me.

It appears you wanted money in exchange for points, which would clearly be a violation. Now if SBR took your points becuase of this then, YES they should and I assume they will advise you of such.
As for not telling you already I see your beef. I am sure there will be clarification for the deduction/strip of points. Then we will all know. Nothing against you Fearless. Just trying to give a possible explanation.

Thank you. I appreciate your support, The General.
I wish I could have competed more in your WNBA contests but I was busy doing other things. I really regret not competing in those.
I hope there's no hard feelings on the part of my customers.

I wanted to buy points from a poster. There was a rule made against that a couple of days ago and it was only posted in the points forum (where I never go) so I didn't know about the rule. I never broke any rules and I didn't know that I was attempting to break a rule.
The rest is speculation on your part and to be honest I don't care if there's an explanation now, I'll just follow The General's advice and stop thinking about points.

This has to be the silliest thing I've ever seen in my life. Ignore the points? The newest SBR feature that I'm sure many worked tirelessly to have implemented? Just fukk it, ignore them? HAHAHAHAH. Good stuff. Should we ignore sbrlines and Vegas Dave as well?
Fearless I didn't know they were against the whole "bookin for points" gig. I actually thought that was part of the fun why they were invented, to go along with contest prizes and other awards. But if that is in the rules, we were both wrong.
Sucks, I was gonna clean your clock with my plays
Oh well...off to ignore my points and get destroyed on football. Toodles!

I was following Fearless in the other thread about the Private Messages.
I remember seeing him with 50ish points yesterday. The reason I recall this is because Bread thought he was going to win all of his points and kept teasing him about not having enough points to cover the bets, were he to lose. I just checked his points history and there is nothing there to justify the fact that he now only has 1 point, other than a transfer of 7 pts to taco. This is pretty gay. If pts are taken away, there should be a paper trail. This is going to cause a problem as people are now going to accuse moderators of taking points away, even if it is not the case. Do we need to start doing screen captures of our points tally every day?

PTJ,
Fearless has his points plus 100 and should give you your points.
FearLess,
If you have a Q or concern, best bet is to ask someone. We have everything saved in the database despite initial quirks that can mess what the user sees in a new feature like points.
It looks like there was an issue from changed your user ID at one point and it attached your points to that old name. We should have you fixed up and with the extra pts.

Now, I'm not even remotely a fan of the points program (even though I have to admit those pint glasses do look sweet) but these two statements are absolutely asinine from a staff member. The first one addresses no specifics of the problem on the table and can be paraphrased, "I don't really know what's being discussed, but I want you to know I read the thread."

The second one I'll concede is common sense, but I simply can't believe that SBR's position is that they implemented this points system to be ignored by all posters. This has been the big release of the fall for SBR to tie the Picks site in with the forum, and now we're being advised just to ignore it all. I'd let it pass except I feel my intelligence is being insulted. I'm supposed to do things which generate points and then ignore that I have them... Sounds like exploitation to me.
