Poland was #7 at one point.

You can easily manipulate rankings with scheduling.

Ditto for USA Top25 or Kenpom or.......whomever you choose. Thats the whole point isnt it ?

Portugal has the easiest on paper matchup for the next game. They also will have a very difficult semi final.

England vs Argentina would be a great final.

No argument from me. They looked very dangerous with Ramos today. He provided so many lateral runs for link up play , that the Swiss were unable to cover. No doubt i start him over Ronaldo. So many great games to watch. England and France should be very interesting. Which of the two will impose their style on the other ? Brazil should have too much pace for Croatia( especially Lovren ). Do i want to give 1.5 goals to make it worthwhile ? I lean to Argentina slightly , but respect the back 4 of The Dutch. I think Portugal can break down the Moroccon wall of defense.

I have a great deal of respect for Croatia's talent and capabilities. They are a very organized group that plays well on and off the ball. Sadly , everyone ages and mother time saps the speed and energy from old bodies. Modric at 37 is still The Maestro, and deserves to go down as the greatest player to come from Croatia. Croatia also have 33 year old Lovren as the central figure in defence , who was slow a foot in his best days and showing signs of being ready for retirement soon. With Barisic at 30 , also losing a step , they are not a team ready to defend " pace ". Playing a 90 minute game 4 days ago , that went into an additional 30 minutes of overtime , as well as PK's , will also take a toll as this game rolls on. Brazil , having the luxury of a 4 - 0 lead against South Korea , were able to rest players early in the 2nd half. I dont see Croatia being able to deal with the pace of Brazil and possession will be a limited , so this one could get ugly late in the game imo

0 goals 0 assists vs Brazil in his life.

Don't bring up friendlies.

Almost impossible for any player to play that many games and do that.

Rightfully so. Its the 1/4 Finals , there are no easy games. The Dutch are a very good side , just like every other team still alive in the tournament

Actually , i was surprised at the opposite happening today. Smart move by Croatia's manager to put pressure on Brazil's back 4. Why allow Brazil's midfield to carry the play. Need a Brazilian goal to open things up 2nd half
